Vendor Show this weekend

WELCOME — Oct. 11 is a busy day in Welcome. The Burn Site will be open from 8 a.m. to noon., for Welcome residents only. Wood six inches in diameter or smaller should be brought to the site. Thank you for your cooperation.

The Vendor Show sponsored by the Legion Auxiliary at the Sinn CLC at St. Paul’s Community Church from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11 There will be bbqs and hotdogs and sweet treats available for a free will donation. Check out all the items for sale from the vendors.

The Welcome Legion Hall will have a Cribbage Tournament beginning at 1:15 p.m. with registration and play at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11. They are planning tournaments on the second and third Saturdays from October to March. Join in the afternoon fun. Any cribbage player is welcome Registration is $11 and all the registration monies are given back in prizes. The next tournament will be Oct. 18.

This week was Fire Prevention Week. Thank you for your service to the Welcome Fire Department and area departments.

The Town and Country Store in Trimont will have an Oktoberfest from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12 with pumpkin painting, pumpkin bowling, a photo booth, corn trailer and more.

The Lake Promenaders Square Dance group will meet at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12 at the Shaw home at 804 West First Street in Welcome. Watchers and Dancers are welcome to join them.

The American Red Cross blood drives will be from from 1 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 13 at the St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome, Oct. 20 at Martin Luther High School, Oct. 24 at the American Legion Hall in Fairmont and Oct. 28 at the Truman Community Center. The Welcome Legion will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 13 at the Legion Hall. All members are encouraged to attend.

Coffee Hours are held from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Tuesday in October at the Sinn Celebration of Life Center in Sherburn. Join friends and neighbors for good coffee and great fellowship.

There will be a CREST Lunch and Learn program at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at the First Lutheran Church in Trimont, followed by a lunch. These fun and educational programs are free to senior citizens in Martin County. CREST appreciates a free-will donation for the lunch. Plan to attend.

Will you decorate a car trunk and pass out goodies from 1 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 26 in Welcome? Contact Leah Gerhardt, Amanda Hartwig or Amanda Kleinschmidt for further information. This is a good idea for a safe Halloween for the Welcome children.

Martin County West (MCW) athletes will be busy too. The volleyball team will compete in the Tomahawk Valley Showcase on Oct. 10 and Oct. 11. The volleyball team will compete on Oct. 13 in Sleepy Eye. The cross country team will compete in the Tomahawk Valley Showcase on Oct. 14 at GFW. The football team will compete on Oct. 15 in Cleveland. Good luck, Mavericks. The MCW schools will have an early dismissal on Oct. 15 and will have no school on Oct. 16 and 17, in observance of MEA.
