FAIRMONT – With two years under its belt, Figueroa’s Construction is servicing the needs of Fairmont area homes both internally and externally.
Owner Luis Figueroa said the company originated with his father, who has worked in construction his entire life.
“He retired, came home,” Figueroa said. “He was bored after two weeks. When we started this, it was supposed to be a little repair thing to keep them busy, and it’s slowly taking off from there.”
When they were first getting started, Figueroa said they eased themselves into the community and built their reputation.
“It’s a tight-knit community,” he said. “Typically, if you run into someone or a name that you may not know, or they’re not aware of you, they’re kind of playing it safe. Once we got doing some work and getting our name out there, things have dramatically changed for us.”
While they started slow, Figueroa said they were able to grow by seeing and acting on what people needed.
“We really got into that roofing aspect of things,” he said. “That’s where we began to take off a little bit. We saw that our community needed a little more for options in regard to exterior services. That’s when we became more involved with our siding.”
Now, Figueroa said they aim to be a one-stop shop for home renovation.
“We provide exterior renovation services,” he said. “Anything from roofing to siding, gutters, windows, and doors. Towards the winter times, we like to move into some interior remodeling.”
At this point in time, Figueroa said he feels positive about the direction the business is going.
“Watching our growth over the past couple of years, it’s been great,” he said. “We’ve been improving; it’s a learning process running a business. You hit a bump here and there, but it’s about moving forward and continuing to provide the best service that we can for the clients.”
Currently, their most popular projects are roofing and siding, but they have also had numerous large-scale opportunities.
“We’ve done a full remodel on houses where we’re switching out windows, doors, roofs, we’re adding decks,” Figueroa said. “Things change, you know, just comes based off the client’s wants and needs, and see if we can offer them what they’re looking for.”
They offer multiple brands and styles of roofing and siding products. When it comes to determining the best fit for a customer, Figueroa said it is all about the customer.
“We like to really listen to the client and figure out what they’re looking for and what best fits their needs,” he said. “I know we’ve had quite a few storms in the past couple years, so clients are looking for some class four-rated shingles.”
This year, Figueroa’s Construction also made an appearance at the Martin County Fair. Figueroa said it was a great opportunity to be there in front of the community.
“We have clients or individuals just walk by,” he said. “They’re looking for an opinion, or they’re just looking for tips on things here and there, and what they can do different. We offer free inspections of their home so they can see if there’s anything that’s to be done, or how much longer they can hold off on what they currently have. We’re more than happy to help the client in that aspect.”
New products recently include LP Smart Siding made in Minnesota, and decorative rock that can be put around the home. Choosing new products is all about what Figueroa sees can be beneficial to potential clients.
“What they’re looking for, what their needs are in the community,” he said. “I grew up in the community where there wasn’t many options for contracting services or actual contractors that will be able to do the work. Being able to offer that, be able to offer the availability and the affordability of what we do, it’s my base thing.”
Figueroa has lived in Fairmont for over 20 years, and through his business, he enjoys being able to provide his community with what they need.
“Be able to provide these services and stay and raise my kids where I grew up, as well,” he said. “Attending the schools I attended and playing in sports with teams I greatly enjoy watching. It’s great bringing this expertise back to the community and being able to assist in those aspects.”
Figueroa’s Construction is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday. They also offer 24/7 emergency services. For more information, visit figueroasconstructionllc.com/ or call 507-236-0604.
