Fairmont driver faces homicide, DWI charges in pedestrian death
FAIRMONT — A Fairmont woman has been charged this week with criminal vehicular homicide and driving under the influence, according to court records.
A criminal complaint filed in Martin County District Court on Monday alleges that Kristin Carol St. John, 56, of Fairmont, was under the influence of controlled substances when the vehicle she was operating struck a 64-year-old woman crossing East 4th Street in Fairmont on the evening of Sept. 26.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead by Fairmont Police at the scene, according to police records. St. John was arrested and taken into custody. A urinalysis at the jail indicated the presence of amphetamine, methamphetamine and THC, according to the criminal complaint.
St. John is scheduled to appear in Martin County District Court in Fairmont on Monday, Oct. 6.
