Ceylon Clean-Up Day today

CEYLON — Today is Clean Up Day in Ceylon. Items will be picked up at the curb that have a tag from the City. Please only have items that are acceptable. This is a good opportunity to get rid of items that would be a possible ordinance violation disposed of at a lower rate.

The American Red Cross blood drives will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 29 at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont, from 1 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 6 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont, Oct. 8 at Truman Public Schools, Oct. 28 at the Truman Community Center, from 1 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 13 at the St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome, Oct. 20 at Martin Luther High School and Oct. 24 at the American Legion Hall in Fairmont. Call the 800-RED-CROSS (800-733-2767) number, go online at www.redcrossblood.org or text BLOODAPP to 90999 to make an appointment or get information about blood drives. Give blood if you are eligible. There is an urgent need for blood now.

The last day of the Coffee Hours for September will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 30 at St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome. The October Coffee Hours will be held from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Sherburn. October will be the last month for Coffee Hours.

The CREST Lunch and Learn program will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Sherburn. Plan to attend this free senior citizen program. Lunch will follow the program. CREST appreciates a free-will donation for the lunch.

The Helping Hands of Ceylon non-profit group is planning a Trunk or Treat event on Oct. 25 as a Halloween event for area children. They plan to line Main Street with cars that have decorated trunks and goodies to pass out for the area children. A hotdog , cookie and beverage will be available. There are gift cards planned for the top three decorated cars. Help make it a fun and safe Halloween celebration for the area children.

Harvest has begun, please be extra careful on roadways and in the fields. Let’s make this a safe Harvest. Watch for slow moving vehicles. Be extra vigilant about bin safety and equipment safety.
