Fairmont 6, TCU 1

MONTGOMERY – Fairmont High School tennis bested Tri City United 6-1 during Tuesday afternoon’s matchup. The Cardinals swept their singles matchups while taking two of three doubles contests over the Titans.

Emelia Klanderud beat Ellie Adams, 6-1, 6-3. Ella Wubbena topped Reagan Steffen, 6-3, 1-6, 6-2. Carly Gustafson beat Destynee Wolff, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3. Ada Edmundson defeated Clara Leonard, 6-4, 6-4.

In doubles, Fairmont’s Madisyn Peyman and Alison Slama bested Cristina Cruz and Hallie Holicky, 6-1, 6-1. Katherine Zelaya and Addison Toothaker took down Lexie Berger and Camryn Holicky, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. Tri City United’s Lucy Fleek and Caleigh Hoefs won over Belinda Lutterman and Ella Dresselhaus, 6-4, 6-2.

Fairmont continues its season on Thursday with a multi-school event at Austin Neveln Tennis Courts beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Fairmont boys take 1st at St. James

ST. JAMES – Fairmont High School cross country competed in the St. James Cross Country Invitational on Tuesday afternoon, with the boys and girls earning first- and third-place finishes, respectively.

Starting with the boys, it was Devin Hanson (18:48.19) and Cole Hanson’s (19:11.65) sixth- and 10-place finishes that propelled the Cardinals early. Ethan Seibring (20:22.82), Holden Junkermeier (20:37.27), Carmyne Hecht (20:45.94), and Seth Seibring (20:47.14) rounded off the top six, getting 15th-, 17th-, 19th-, and 20th-place finishes.

The girls were led by Brooklyn Stone (23:21.87) and Delaney Klug (24:13.40), who secured sixth and 10th-place finishes. Natalie Griffey (24:58.94) wasn’t far behind at 16th. Kendra Blomster (25:43.24), Feven Hoyer (25:43.56), Avery Steuber (26:23.79), and Addison Lintelman (26:24.33) all finished accordingly at 19th, 20th, 21st, and 22nd.

Fairmont runners continue their season on Thursday, Oct 2, in the I-90 Invite.
