Karaoke at the Lake Belt Bar and Grill

CEYLON — Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Ceylon will have services at 5:30 p.m. tonight, Sept. 20. They also have Bible Study classes at 9:30 a.m. each Tuesday. Area residents are welcome to join them. Area churches are gearing up for the fall/winter with service time changes. St. Paul’s Lutheran in Wilbert will have 9:30 a.m. Sunday services and their partner church in Sherburn, St. John’s, will have 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services for the fall beginning this Sunday, Sept. 21. St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn will change from 5:30 p.m. Saturday services to 10:30 a.m. Sunday services in October. The Circle of Faith Parishes have 9 a.m. services at Trinity in Welcome and 10:30 a.m. services at First Lutheran Church in Trimont for the month of September and will change in October.

Karaoke with Dion will be at 8 p.m. tonight, Sept. 20 at the Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon. Jordan and Wyatt Burmeister have sold the bar, and the new owners will take over on the Sept. 26. Good luck to the Burmeisters and the new owners of Lake Belt Bar and Grill.

Coffee Hours continue from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Tuesday in September at St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome. Coffee Hours will meet at Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in October.

The Coffee Lovers in Ceylon meet each Thursday in the back room of the Lake Belt Bar and Grill. Area residents are welcome to join these two coffee hours for fellowship.

Clean-Up Day in Ceylon will be Sept. 27, with curbside pick-up only. The tags for pick-up are available for purchase at the City Hall with information about accepted items. This is a good opportunity to get rid of items that may be an ordinance violation for less expense.

The first day of Fall is Monday. Harvest has begun, and farmers and vehicles on the roads are reminded to be extra careful and observant of slow moving vehicles and road conditions. Farmers should be careful when combining and in bins and wagons. Let’s have a safe harvest season.

The American Red Cross blood drives will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 22 at St. Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 29 at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont, from 1 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 6 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont, Oct. 8 at Truman Public Schools, Oct. 28 at the Truman Community Center, from 1 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 13 at the St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome, Oct. 20 at Martin Luther High School and Oct. 24 at the American Legion Hall in Fairmont. Give blood if you are eligible. There is an urgent need for blood now.

The Helping Hands of Ceylon non-profit group is organizing a Trunk and Treat event for children from 1 to 3 p.m. on Oct. 25 on Main Street in Ceylon. Anyone wishing to decorate their car trunk and pass out goodies to the children that afternoon should contact Chris Griffin at (507) 236-9907 or Barb Kronback at (507) 632-4386 . There are prizes for the top three decorated trunks. Sounds like a wonderful thing for a safe Halloween for area children.
