MCW homecoming next week
WELCOME — A Vendor Show will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today, Sept. 19 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Sherburn.
Condolences to the families of Joan Nowak and Gary “Bim” Koenecke who passed away recently. They will be missed by family and friends.
Area churches are gearing up for their fall schedules. St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn will have services at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Sundays. The Circle of Faith Parishes will meet at 9 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome and at 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Trimont for the month of September. St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn meets at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday for September and will change to 10:30 a.m. on Sundays in October. The Regional Worship Center in Sherburn has 10 a.m. services and St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome has 10 a.m. services on Sunday. Area residents are welcome to join these churches for services.
Martin County West (MCW), a part of Give Back event, will help the community with various projects on Oct. 3. Contact Mrs. Wohlhuter at MCW if there is a project the students and volunteers could do for residents, businesses or towns.
Tuesday Coffee Hours continue from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Tuesday in September at St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome. The October Coffee Hours will be at the Sinn Facility in Sherburn. Join friends and neighbors for a good cup of coffee, treats and great fellowship.
The Lake Promenaders Square Dance Club will have their regular dance session at 3 p.m. on Sept. 28 at the Shaw Home (804 West 1st Street) in Welcome. Dancers and watchers are welcome to join them.
The American Red Cross blood drives will be from 1 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 6 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont and from 1 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 13 at the St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome. Call the 800-RED-CROSS (800-733-2767) number, go online at www.redcrossblood.org or text BLOODAPP to 90999 to make an appointment or get further information about blood drives in the area. Blood is urgently needed so give if you are eligible. (age 16-plus and 110 pounds) Thank you.
The MCW athletes are busy with Homecoming on Sept. 26 with a football game against GFW at 7 p.m. in Trimont and lots of activities surrounding the homecoming celebration. The students will have dress up days each day that week with Monday-Merica Day, Tuesday-Meme Day, Wednesday- Class color Day, Thursday- Batman vs Barbie Day, and Friday Black and Blue Spirit Day. There will be a pep fest and parade on Friday and a tailgate supper.
Other MCW games include Cross Country at 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 25 at WEM, Volleyball v.s. GFW at 7 p.m. on Sept, 22 in Trimont, and Volleyball vs Cleveland at 7 p.m. on Sept. 25 in Trimont. They will have a Cancer Night on Oct. 2.

A Vendor Show will be from from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 11 at the Sinn Celebration of Life Center in Welcome. It is sponsored by the Welcome Post 553 Legion Auxiliary. Contact Amanda Kleinschmidt for further information.
There will also be a Trunk and Treat event from 1 to 3 p.m. on Oct. 26 near the Welcome Legion Hall. Anyone who would like to decorate a trunk and hand out goodies that day should contact Amanda Kleinschmidt, Leah Gerhardt or Amanda Hartwig.
Thank you to those residents that purchased a tree in memory of long-time City Clerk Deb Hansen that will be planted in the Legion Park (across the street from City Hall). It will be a nice way to remember her for a long time.
