Lewisville Fire Department to host Burger Bash
TRUMAN — The Martin County Relay for Life fundraiser for the American Cancer Society will be from 4 to 9 p.m. on Sept 13 at the Martin County Fairgrounds in Fairmont. Do you have your team organized? Activities include relay, music from the BeeKays, a car show, butterfly release, face painting, pedal pull, silent auction, inflatables and a pork meal and more. What a good cause. Plan to attend. The Truman Farmers Market will be from 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13 at Graf Park. Vendors are welcome to come and sell produce and goods free of charge. There are several new vendors to choose from. If you have any tokens for the market, be sure to redeem them by Saturday, Sept. 27. They can be redeemed at the Farmers Market or Granada Gardens in Truman. The last market will be Sept. 27.
The Lewisville Fire Department will have a burger bash from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 14 at the Fire Hall in Lewisville. Enjoy a hamburger or cheeseburger, potato salad, chips, cookies and beverage. This is a free-will donation meal. All proceeds will help the Lewisville Fire Department purchase equipment. To-go meals are available.
The Truman City Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 15 at the municipal building. These meetings are open to the public.
The Truman School Board meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 15 in the board conference room.
Recycling Day is Wednesday, Sept. 17. Please place containers on the curb by 7 a.m.
Second Harvest Heartland, nutrition assistance program for seniors, will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 17. Come to Trinity Lutheran Church in Truman to pick up your box. Eligibility is based on age, 60 years and up, household size and income. Pre-register at 1-800-365-0270.
Lewisville Commercial Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at the Lewisville Legion.

The city-wide cleanup, only for the residents of Truman, will be from 9 am to noon on Saturday Sept. 20, at the Prairieland Solid Waste facility, 801 East 5th Street North in Truman. Items accepted at no cost include couches, chairs, patio furniture, bed frames, mattress, box spring, dressers, cabinets, bikes, scrap iron and swings/slides. There will be a fee for electronics, appliances or any items that have a plug-in or have the cord removed. No tires or car batteries.
