Museum to open one more time before spring

WELCOME — The Circle of Faith Parishes will change service times in September, but for Sunday, Sept. 7, the Parishes will have a joint service at 9 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. They will help clean and stock the Heaven’s Table Food Shelf in Fairmont after the service as their special God’s Work-Our Hands project. The services will be 9 a.m. at Trinity in Welcome and 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Trimont for the rest of September. Area residents are welcome to join them for services.

There will be a Tailgate Party at the Martin County West (MCW) football game tonight with Mayer Lutheran at Trimont’s field. The volleyball team will travel to Maple River tomorrow, Sept. 6. The cross country team will travel to Luverne etomorrow, Sept. 6. Good luck, Mavericks.

The Welcome Historical Society Museum will be open from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6. They are closed during the fall and winter, so this is the last open house until April. The Friendship Club from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn will meet at 11 a.m. on Sept. 8 at The Ranch restaurant in Fairmont. Area residents are welcome to join them for lunch. Membership at St. John’s is not required.

The Lake Promenaders have several special events approaching. They will have an open house with a potluck at 6:30 p.m. and dancing to follow on Thursday, Sept. 11, at the Cedar Creek Shelter House in Fairmont. Watchers and dancers are both welcome. See what this fun group is all about. The group will dance to celebrate King Korn Days from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sept. 13 behind the Silo’67 bar and grill in Fairmont. The Tuesday Coffee Hours continue from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Tuesday in September at St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome. Join friends and neighbors for good coffee, goodies and great fellowship.

The Welcome Legion will meet at 7 p.m. on Sept. 8. All members are encouraged to attend. The Welcome Legion Auxiliary will have a Vendor Show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 11 at the Welcome Legion Hall. For additional information about the event and for vendors, contact Amanda Kleinschmidt on Facebook Messenger. Barbecue, hot dog, and sweet treats available for a free-will donation. Plan to attend.

The Martin County Relay for Life fundraiser for the American Cancer Society will be from 4 to 9 p.m. on Sept. 13 at the Martin County Fairgrounds in Fairmont. Do you have your team organized? Activities include music from The Bee Kays, a car show, face painting, pedal pull, silent auction, pork meal, and O’Scoops ice cream. Proceeds will help research to end cancer. What a good cause. Plan to attend.

The American Red Cross blood drives will be from 1 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 6 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont and from 1 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 13 at the St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome.
