City-wide cleanup Sept. 20

TRUMAN — Recycling Day is today, Sept. 4, due to Labor Day.

There will be no Farmers’ Market this Saturday. It will return on Sept. 13.

National Grandparents Day is Sunday, Sept. 7. A strong family bond lowers the risk of depression in both grandparents and grandchildren. A text, phone call or card would be welcome.

St. Paul’s Lutheran school in Truman’s 2025 silent auction fundraiser will be from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept 7. All proceeds will go to the school. There will be a free-will donation lunch, raffle tickets and games for the kids. Everyone is welcome to attend. For more information, call the school at (507) 776-2802.

A pork chop fundraiser will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 8, at the Truman Fire Hall. A free-will donation will be accepted. Make checks payable to Truman Ambulance Auxiliary, and in the memo, write Truman Ambulance. All proceeds are for the lift assist device. Come join them for Martin County pork chops and sides. Truman Active Living Group welcomes the public’s attendance at their meetings, held on the second Tuesday of the month. The next meeting is at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9, at the Truman Historical Museum.

Thanks to Silo ’67, King Korn Day is back for a second year in Fairmont on Saturday, Sept. 13. Children’s activities will be from 10 a.m. to noon. Activities include haystack quarter hunt, pig clip art station, creative rock painting, seed art creations, meet the Barnyard Buddies, treat and beverages. Barn Bash by Night will be from 2 p.m. to 1 a.m. Activities include a bag tournament, Lake Promenaders square dancing, salsa dancing and a DJ barn dance starting at 9 pm. Corn on the cob will be sold with profits to the Fairmont Opera House.

The city-wide cleanup for only the residents of Truman will be from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Prairieland Solid Waste Facility (801 East 5th Street North) in Truman. Items accepted at no cost include couches, chairs, patio furniture, bed frames, mattresses, box springs, dressers, cabinets, bikes, scrap iron, swings and slides. There will be a fee for electronics, appliances or any items that have a plug-in or cord removed. No tires or car batteries.

-Lewisville Area Volunteer Fire Fighting Burger Bash will be from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 14.

-Lewisville Legion Auxiliary chicken supper will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Sept 21.
