Upcoming special area church services

SHERBURN — The CREST Lunch and Learn program will feature a special speaker, Sunshine Suzy, at 11 a.m. today, Sept. 3, at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Sherburn. Don’t miss this exceptional motivational speaker. The program is free to all senior citizens in Martin County. CREST appreciates a free-will donation for the lunch. Plan to attend today.

The Sherburn Legion hosts Hamburger Night tonight, Sept. 3. The menu includes a burger, salad and beans for $10.

The Farmers’ Market will be from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. today in Trimont. Plan to attend.

The Tuesday Coffee Hours in September will be held at St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Join friends and neighbors for good coffee and treats and great fellowship.

American Red Cross blood drives are today, Sept. 3 at the Best Western in Fairmont, Oct. 6 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont and Oct. 13 at St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome. Area residents are invited to join the Friendship Club from St. John’s Lutheran Church for lunch at 11 a.m. on Sept. 8 at The Ranch in Fairmont. Membership at St. John’s is not required.

Condolences to the family of Rosemary Atzenhoefer from the Trimont area. She passed away recently and will be missed by family and friends.

St. John’s Lutheran Church will have a special outdoor service at 10 a.m. on Sept. 7 at Everett Park on Fox Lake. An eggbake brunch and games will follow the service. They will have their Sunday School Rally Day service at 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 14 followed by a meal and then veggie races. St. John’s and their partner church, St. Paul’s in Wilbert, will resume their usual services times on Sept. 21 and Sept. 28 with St. John’s services at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. and St. Paul’s services at 9:30 a.m.

The four Circle of Faith Parishes will meet at 9 a.m. on Sept. 7 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome for a joint service and to the Heaven’s Table Food Shelf in Fairmont to help clean and stock shelves as a God’s Work-Our Hands project. The other September services will be at 9 a.m. at Trinity in Welcome and 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Trimont. They will start their Sunday School classes on Sept. 14.

The Martin County West (MCW) schools will begin the school year this week. Take extra care near schools and buses. Building progress updates can be found on the school website. www.martin.k12.mn.us The school’s sports teams are gearing up for the new school year too. The football team will compete against Mayer Lutheran team at 7 p.m. on Sept. 5 at the Trimont Field. The cross country team compete with Luverne at 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 6 in Luverne and compete with Norwood-Young America at 4 p.m. on Sept. 9 at Norwood-Young America.

The volleyball team will compete with Alden Conger for parent’s night on Sept. 4 at Alden Conger and will compete in the Maple River Invitational at 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 6, and will compete in Cedar Mountain at 7:15 a.m. on Sept. 8. Good luck, Mavericks.
