Church service schedule to change in September

CEYLON — Monday is the Labor Day Holiday. Please have a safe and happy Labor Day. Remember, schools are starting classes, and children may run from the school bus or on the street intersections. Keep the children safe, obey school bus safety arms and blinking lights laws and slow down around schools.

Tuesday Coffee Hours in September will begin from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Sept. 2 at St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome. Join friends and neighbors for fellowship around a cup of coffee and treats each Tuesday in September. The Coffee Lovers meet from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Thursdays in the back room of the Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon.

Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Ceylon will have Bible Study at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesdays beginning Sept. 2. All are welcome to join. They will have Saturday evening services with communion at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 6. Area residents are invited to join them on the first and third Saturdays for their Saturday evening services.

The Ladies’ Group from St. Peter Lutheran Church (WELCA) will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 3 at the church. All members are encouraged to attend.

The St. Peter Lutheran Church will have services at 9 a.m. tomorrow, Sunday, Aug. 31 and Waverly Lutheran, north of Welcome, will have services at 10:30 a.m. The schedule for services will change in September. The Circle of Faith Parishes will have a joint service at 9 a.m. on Sept. 7 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. and then they will go to the Heaven’s Table Food Shelf to help clean and stock their shelves as part of their God’s Work- Our Hands project for two hours. The September services schedule will begin Sept. 14 with 9 a.m. services at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome and 10:30 a.m. services at First Lutheran Church in Trimont. The Sunday School sessions will begin on Sept. 14.

The CREST Lunch and Learn program featuring speaker Sunshine Suzy will be at 11 a.m. on Sept. 3 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Sherburn. She has Down syndrome and is a farmer, entrepreneur and a nationally-known motivational speaker about inclusivity. A lunch will follow the program. CREST appreciates a free-will donation for the lunch.

The Ceylon City Council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9 at the City Hall. Public comments and questions will be accepted at the beginning of each meeting. To be on the regular agenda, contact the City Hall prior to the meeting date at (507) 632-4653.

The American Red Cross blood drives will be on Sept. 2 and 3 at the Best Western in Fairmont, Oct. 6 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont and Oct. 13 at St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome.
