Blood drives coming up
SHERBURN — The Welcome Historical Society Museum will be open from 2 to 4 p.m. tomorrow, Aug. 2. Check out the interesting items from the town and school.

The Circle of Faith Parishes will have services at 9 a.m. on Sunday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon and at 10:30 a.m. at Waverly Lutheran Church north of Welcome. This will be the times for services for August.
Sundaes at the Park will be at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3 at Triumph Memorial Park in Trimont (two blocks east of highway 4). That day, the entertainment will be by Glenn Henriksen. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the music and ice cream.
The American Red Cross blood drives will be at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn on Aug. 4 from 1 to 6 p.m., Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont on Aug. 6 and at LiveFit Gym in Fairmont on Aug. 8 and at the American Legion in Fairmont on Aug. 22. Call the 800-RED-CROSS (800-733-2767) number, go online at www.redcrossblood.org or text BLOODAPP to 90999 to make an appointment or get further information about blood drives in the area. Blood is urgently needed now so give if you are eligible. Thank You.
Tuesday Coffee Hours continue from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Tuesday morning in August at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn. Join friends and neighbors for good fellowship around a cup of coffee and treats. The Friendship Club from St. John’s invites area residents to join them for breakfast at 9 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 4 at the Green Mill restaurant patio in Fairmont.
The REA Annual meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 5 at the Fairmont Arena at the Martin County Fairgrounds with a pancake supper from 4:30 to 6:15 p.m. and dueling pianos entertainment.
The Welcome City Council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 5 at the City Hall. There is always a time for public comments/questions at the beginning of each meeting without reserving time. To be on the regular agenda, contact/call the City Hall at (507) 728-8740 prior to the meeting date.
Condolences to the family of Marilyn Pierson from Trimont. She will be missed by family and many friends.
Aug. 6 has several events taking place. The CREST Lunch and Learn program will be held (at 212 North Prairie) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Sherburn. The program will be about fraud and presented by Stacie Wolter from Bank Midwest. There will be a roast beef lunch following the program. These programs are free to any senior citizen in Martin County. CREST does appreciate a free will donation for the lunch.
The Welcome Bank will have a Happy Retirement event for Mark Stoffels from 1 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 6. Wish him a happy retirement Wednesday.
The Welcome Burn Site will be open in the evening from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 6. Just a reminder only wood that is six inches in diameter or smaller should be brought to the burn site. This is for Welcome residents only.
Thank you to the organizers of the Welcome High School Reunion held last weekend. A good time was had by all, I hear.
