Program for youth and seniors at farmers’ market

TRUMAN — August is Family Fun Month. This is a wonderful time to make memories before the kids are off to school.

Beginning on Aug. 1, the Truman Public Library will offer a free book and Kwik Trip pizza coupons (while supplies last) to all kids who come to the library. Library hours are 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Monday to Friday, or contact the library at (507) 776-2717.

The Truman Farmers’ Market will be from 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2 at Graf Park. Vendors are welcome to come and sell produce and goods free of charge. There are several new vendors to choose from.

The Power of Produce program will be offered to Truman area youth and senior citizens this summer. The Truman Active Living offers tokens for use at the Truman Farmers’ Market and Granada Gardens’ Market in Truman. The tokens are available at the Truman Public Library, Truman Pool and from Pat Jones at the Truman Farmers’ Market.

A couple’s bridal shower for Jordan Smith and Derek Shoen will be held at 4 pm, on Aug. 2 at their home 80498 440th Street, Truman, Minn. Jordan and Derek are both from Truman. Jordan is the daughter of Eric and Joni Sandwich and Dan and Nikki Smith. Derek is the son of Don and Dawn Shoen. The couple is registered on Amazon.

Lewisville Days Co-ed/Suicide Awareness Softball Tournament will be on Saturday, Aug. 2 and Sunday, Aug. 3. All beer sales will be donated to the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention (please no coolers). Donations are welcome. The entry fee is $125 (100 percent payback, must be paid before you play.) A $1,000 first place payout is based on 12 teams. Double elimination possibly hard luck depending on number of teams. Bring your own .52/300 balls, six homeruns total. ASA rules apply. The Truman City Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 4. You are welcome to attend these meetings.

Recycling Day is Wednesday, Aug. 6. Please place containers on the curb by 7 a.m.

The Truman Pride meeting will be held at 6 pm on Wednesday at the Truman School. Pride in our school, pride in our students, pride in our future. Get involved and help Truman Schools succeed. All are welcome.

The Summer Shindig will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 6 at the Martin County Library in Fairmont. Food trucks, live music, games, ballon artist, tiny school of arts and more will be present.
