Hamburger Night at Legion

SHERBURN — Today there will be a Lunch-N-Learn program about making things out of old bread bags at 11 a.m. followed by a lunch at the First Lutheran Church in Trimont. These educational and fun programs are free of charge to any Senior Citizen in Martin County. Crest sponsors these programs. A free will donation is appreciated for the lunch.

The Sherburn Legion will have their Hamburger Night from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, July 16. Get a delicious grilled burger, salad and baked beans for only $10. A delicious deal. There will also be a Bake Sale with proceeds supporting the FFA international trip.

The youth will get a send-off with good wishes and prayer at St. John’s Lutheran Church from 6:30 to 7 p.m. tonight, July 16 at St. John’s Lutheran Church. They are going to the National Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod Youth Gathering in New Orleans. The public is invited to attend. Have fun and be safe.

The Martin County Library R.A.D. Reptile and Amphibians Zoo will be at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow, July 17 at the Sherburn Theatre. Check out the library for many summer events for the area children.

Condolences to the family of John North from Sherburn. His father was the former pastor at the Methodist Church. He will be missed by family and friends.

A Farmers’ Market will be from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. today, July 16 at Anderson Park in Trimont. They also have coffee, treats and childrens’ activities.

This weekend the movie at the Sherburn Theatre will be Smurfs. The show times are 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 4 p.m. on Sundays.

This weekend July 18 and 19 there will be a Welcome Summer Festival with activities such as a city-wide garage sale, DJ Chopper, Pork Chop dinner at the legion on Friday, parade at 4:30 on Saturday, also a 5K and a car show on Saturday and Pop Rocks and Steve Lang bands. Plan to attend.

Sundaes at the Park will feature Mike Ennis at 6 p.m. on July 20 at the Triumph Memorial Park in Trimont. The alternate location is at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center Chapel in Trimont.

A Memory Cafe meeting for family members and caregivers of any dementia patient will be at 3 p.m. on Monday, July 21 at the Temperance Lake Ridge facility.

The Sherburn City Council will meet at 5 p.m. on Monday, at the City Hall. There is always time at the beginning of the meeting for public comments and questions without reservations. To be on the regular agenda, please contact City Hall prior to the meeting date at (507) 764-4491.

The Martin County West School Board will meet at 6 p.m. on Monday at the Sherburn Elementary School.

Tuesday Coffee Hours continue from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Tuesday in July at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn (just south of Interstate 90). Join friends and neighbors for good coffee and fellowship.

CER Storybook Theatre will be from July 21 to 26 at the Sherburn Theatre.

The Friendship Club from St. John’s Lutheran Church will meet for breakfast at 9 a.m. on Aug. 4 on the patio at the Green Mill restaurant in Fairmont. Area residents are welcome to join them.
