Lewisville Commercial Club to meet

Second Harvest Heartland, a nutrition assistance program for seniors, will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Come to Trinity Lutheran Church in Truman to pick up your box. Eligibility is based on age (60 years and up), household size and income. Pre-register by contacting (800) 365-0270.

The Lewisville Commercial Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Legion.

The agribusiness commerce of the Fairmont Area Chamber of Commerce and Martin County Pork Producers announces the 27th annual blue ribbon pork cook-off, to be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Aug. 13 in the Martin County Arena at the Martin County Fairgrounds. Blue ribbon pork cook-off tickets are available for $12 at the Fairmont Chamber of Commerce.

The temperature must be 69 degrees Fahrenheit for the Truman Pool to open. If it starts to rain but there isn’t a threat of lightning. the pool will stay open. The pool is open from 1 to 5 pm and 6:30 to 9 pm daily. Water acrobatics is from 5:30 to 6:30 pm Monday through Friday. Swimming lessons are available. Daily tickets $5. 10 punch tickets are $45. Water aerobic sessions are $60, an individual season pass is $100, and a family season pass is $200. All must live under the same roof.

Wednesday is recycling day. Please place your recycling containers on the curb by 7 a.m. Remember that recycling is on the first and third Wednesday of the month, unless it falls on holiday

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Truman will have its annual salad luncheon from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on July 16. There is a lift in the church and takeouts will be available.

The Rad Zoo will be in Truman at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, at the Truman Community Building. Due to this special event, there will be no storytime craft at the Truman Public Library.

This is a free event sponsored by the Martin County Library.

Truman city-wide garage sales begin on July 24-25. Flyers will be available on Saturday, July 19, at Casey’s in Truman. Be sure to check the time and day each sale is to be held. Treasures are waiting for you.

The Minnesota Livestock Breeders’ Association, in conjunction with Minnesota 4-H and the 4-H Auction Committee, will award a minimum of $60,000 in scholarships to 4-H members furthering their education and work toward a post-secondary degree at an accredited college or university. Applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Aug. 1. More than $959,000 has been awarded since the auction began in 1995.
