Council considers roof work
SHERBURN– The Sherburn City Council met on Monday evening. The clerk reported that an assessment of the city hall roof, library and liquor store were made. There are some low cost repairs that could be made to the city hall roof and it may last five years. There was a replacement schedule made also.
Trees at South Park have been removed. One bathroom is not open and a porta potty is available when there are games at the park. One bathroom works and the electricity to the other has been pulled. There was a quote of $6,000 to fix the bathroom doors. This was tabled.
The $ 5000 for sewer and water lines issues at the P&J Motel were approved. Travis Winter, engineer from Bolton and Menk, explained the settling occurred and the contractor was not at fault. Pictures of the connections made were shown and the public works employee explained that near by towns also had policies like Sherburn and they were okay.
The council asked about some approaches that were skipped when M and R did work and the public works will contact them about doing that.
Council reports talked about the liquor store running much smoother and had good reports. The spraying is done. The paint sprayer is in need of repair or replace. Welcome and Trimont used it and it was not working well. This would be a Joint Powers issue and there would be a need for the Joint Powers to meet. This will be brought up to the other Joint Powers cities. The council then went into a closed session.
