Sherburn Theatre to show ‘Jurassic World: Rebirth’
SHERBURN — Welcome to July. The summer seems to be flying by. Today is a busy day in the area.
A CREST Lunch and Learn program will be today, July 2, at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life at 212 North Prairie Street (Congregational Church) in Sherburn. The lunch will follow the program. These educational and fun programs are free for all area senior citizens. CREST would appreciate a free will donation for lunch.
The Farmer’s Market in Trimont will be from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. today, July 2, with coffee and kids’ activities included. The Martin County Foxes will play baseball at Jackson at 7:30 p.m. tonight.
The Sherburn Legion has their Hamburger Night from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, July 2, including a Bake Sale. Proceeds of the Bake Sale go to the FFA international trip.
The Sherburn Theatre will show “Jurassic World: Rebirth” this weekend and next weekend. Show times are 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturdays and 4 p.m. on Sundays. Tickets are $5, and there is a concession stand available. Shop local.
Sundaes at the Park will be at 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, at the Triumph Memorial Park in Trimont, with the Kittleson Family as the musical entertainment. Bring a lawn chair, and enjoy the music and ice cream.
St. Luke’s Catholic Church members are reminded that they will have services on Saturdays at 5 p.m. from July to September. St. John’s Lutheran Church has 8 a.m. services in the summer. The Regional Worship Center has 10 a.m. services. Area residents are welcome to join these congregations for services.
St. John’s Lutheran Church will have Camp Omega Day Camp from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. from July 7 to July 11 for children entering first grade to sixth grade. A program will be on Thursday. They will meet from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday. Volunteers are also needed throughout the week. Go to www.sjlsherburn.com/sunday school or check out their Facebook post for further information.
The Friendship Club sponsored by St. John’s Lutheran Church will meet for a Potluck Picnic Lunch at 11 a.m. on July 7 at the City Park in Sherburn. Tableware and Lemonade will be furnished. Please bring a dish to pass and maybe a friend. Membership at St. John’s is not required.
Condolences to the families of Sharon Anderson and Gary Helmers, area residents who passed away recently. They will be missed.
The American Red Cross Blood Drives will be in Fairmont on July 10 at Grace Lutheran Church and on July 21 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Give blood and save a life or maybe three. Tuesday Coffee Hours continue from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Tuesday in July at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn (south of Interstate 90). Join friends and neighbors for a fellowship-filled morning with coffee and treats.
Check out the Martin County West School District newsletter or website for the many summer activities planned through the Community Education and Recreation (CER). Some of the activities are gymnastics, STEM camp, storybook theatre and basketball camp.
The Sherburn Library has activities scheduled for July. Art activities will be at 3 p.m. on July 8. 4H activities will be at 3 p.m. on July 10. A special program about Reptiles and Amphibians will be at 3:30 p.m. (1:30 p.m. at the Trimont Library) on July 17. Plan to attend.
In upcoming events:
St. John’s will have a Joint Service with their partner church, St. Paul’s in Wilbert at 8:30 a.m. on July 13 (there will be no services that day at Wilbert). There will be a joint voters’ meeting after the service. Watch for Sweet Corn Sales from the St. John’s Youth Group this summer. St. John’s ladies’ group, LWML, is reminded that they will meet at 2 p.m. on July 16. This is one week later than usual due to Camp Omega activities at the church.
