All-Class Reunion this evening

CEYLON — The special Ceylon High School All Class Reunion is today, June 28. Registration and social hour are 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon. A ticketed Catered Dinner will be served from 5:45 to 7 p.m. There will be a short program at 7 p.m. The BeeKays Band will entertain. Please enter through the west door of the bar’s banquet room. The street on the west will also have accommodations. Enjoy visiting with other CHS graduates and Huskies. Thank you to the Reunion Committee.

The Ceylon Area Historical Society Museum will be open today from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. They will open the time capsule sealed in 2000 at the Ceylon Centennial. This year, 2025, is the 125th anniversary of the founding of Ceylon.

The Bike Rodeo will be at 9 a.m. today, June 28, by the high school in Sherburn and at noon by the Fire Hall in Welcome. Bring a bike, helmet, closed-toe shoes, and your parents. This is sponsored by the Welcome/Sherburn Police Department.

A special 97th birthday celebration for Arlene Lueck will be from 1 to 3 p.m. today, June 28, at her farm in rural Ceylon. She requests your presence, not a present, so stop by and see her today. Cards will reach her at 331 145th Avenue, Ceylon, Minn. 56121. Congratulations, Arlene, and our wish is for more birthdays in the coming years.

Another Ceylon friend, Larry Schmidt, will celebrate his 90th birthday on July 7. Congratulations, Larry, and have many more birthdays. Cards will reach Larry at 1601 Cadillac Ave., Fairmont, Minn. 56031.

Condolences to the family of Gary Helmers from the Dunnell area, who passed away recently. He will be remembered as part of the Auctioneers for the Ceylon Community Day auctions over the years. He will be missed by many.

The St. Peter Lutheran Church women’s group WELCA will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, at the church. All members are urged to attend. The Circle of Faith parishes, which include St. Peter, will have their July service schedule this month with Sunday services at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome at 9 a.m., and First Lutheran Church in Trimont will have 10:30 a.m. services. There will be a community VBS at Trimont’s Covenant Church on July 20-24. Waverly and First Lutheran Churches will join the Methodist and the Covenant Churches in sponsoring the VBS.

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert will have 10 a.m. Sunday services this summer. Their partner church in Sherburn, St. John’s, will have 8 a.m. services. Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Ceylon will have 5:30 p.m. services on Saturday, July 5. Area residents are welcome to join these area churches for services this summer.

The Friendship Club, sponsored by St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn, invites area residents to join them for a Potluck Lunch at 11 a.m. on July 7 at the City Park in Sherburn. Please bring a dish to pass, utensils and maybe a friend. Membership at St. John’s is not required.

The Tuesday Coffee Hours continue from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Tuesday in July at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn (just south of Interstate 90). Join friends and neighbors for good coffee, treats and great fellowship.

The American Red Cross blood drives are on July 10 at the Grace Lutheran Church and on July 21 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, both in Fairmont. Trimont Sundaes at the Park will continue at 6 p.m. on July 6 at Trimuph Memorial Park and will feature music by the Kittleson family (originally from the Ceylon area) as entertainment. The inclement weather location is the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont.

Ceylon will have a Summer Auction on July 19. Consignments may be brought in from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. from July 10 to July 17. No household items, please, only agricultural equipment.

Summer Festivals abound in the area. The Welcome Summer Festival will be from July 18 to July 19. The Armstrong Fourth of July Celebration and Trimont Fun Fest will be from July 13 to July 15. Truman Days will be from July 25 to July 27 (this year is their 50th festival).
