Welcome Burn Site open next week

WELCOME — A Bike Rodeo sponsored by the Welcome/Sherburn Police Department will be at 9 am tomorrow, June 28 at the High School in Sherburn and at noon at the Fire Hall in Welcome. All ages may participate and receive a Bike Safety Gift Bag. Bring your bike and a helmet and wear closed toe shoes. Parents should sign a waiver and remain at the Bike Rodeo to encourage your children. The participants will learn stop, signal and look on a bike and bike safety and helmet use. They will navigate cones to practice safety. Plan to attend.

The American Red Cross blood drive will be from noon to 6 p.m. on Monday, June 30 at St. Paul’s Community Church on Dugan Street in Welcome. The Welcome City Council meeting will be at 6 p.m. on July 1 at the City Hall. All members are encouraged to attend. The Burn Site in Welcome will open from 6 to 8 p.m. on July 2 for wood only that is six inches in diameter or smaller. Thank you for your cooperation. The City also asks residents to discharge mowing onto property and not into the street since it clogs the storm drains. Please also do not flush any nonbiodegradable wipes, etc. even if they say they are flushable. This clogs the sewer equipment resulting in expensive repair. Thank you.

The Lake Promenaders Square Dance group will be giving lessons from 6 to 9 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays beginning July 7 at the Temperance Lake Ridge facility.

The Tuesday Coffee Hours will be held from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Tuesday in July at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn (just south of Interstate 90). Join friends and neighbors for good coffee, treats and great fellowship.

The Welcome Historical Society Museum is open from 2 to 4 p.m. on the first Saturday of the summer months. For this month, that would be July 5. Check out the two-story remodeled church on Hulseman Street for interesting items like a 1930’s kitchen, photos from 1890 of the streets and buildings, Welcome School memorabilia and veterans displays. Contact Vicki Nelsen (507) 236-7081 for visits by appointment or further information.

Church services for the summer at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn are at 5 p.m. on Saturday for July through September. The Circle of Faith Parishes have July services at 9 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome and at 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Trimont. St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn has 8 a.m. services and their partner church St. Paul’s Lutheran in Wilbert has 10 a.m. services for the summer.
