Porkchop fundraiser this Sunday
WELCOME — An American Red Cross blood drive will be today, June 20, at the Fairmont American Legion, and on June 30 at St.Paul’s Community Church in Welcome. Call (800) 733-2767 or go online to www.redcrossblood.org to make an appointment.
The Welcome Burn Site will be open from 8 a.m. to noon tomorrow, Saturday, June 21. Wood that is six inches in diameter or smaller should only be brought to the site.
The Sherburn Festival begins with a Chicken Feed Fundraiser and street dance tonight, June 20 at the Sherburn Fire Hall, and tomorrow, June 21, festivities continue at the City Park with a parade at 1 p.m.
The Sundaes at the Park in Trimont will be held at 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, with Lucy Larson as the entertainment.
Trimont’s Farmers Market is held from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. each Wednesday. Coffee, rolls and childrens’ activities are included.
The Pork Chop Fundraiser for the Fox Lake Golf Club will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 22.
The Tuesday Coffee Hours in June at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn will meet one more time on June 24. The July Coffee Hours will be held from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Tuesday at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn Join friends and neighbors for good fellowship each Tuesday morning this summer.
The Sherburn Theatre will feature “How to Train Your Dragon” this weekend. The showtimes are 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 4 p.m. on Sundays. Tickets are $5.

The Welcome/Sherburn Police Department will have a Bike Rodeo for children in the area on June 28. The Sherburn bike rodeo will be held at the High School in Sherburn at 9 a.m., and the Welcome bike rodeo will be held at noon by the Welcome Fire Hall. Children of any age are welcome, and each will receive a gift bag. The participants must wear a helmet and closed-toe shoes. The parents must sign a waiver and be present it at the rodeo. They will learn about signals, helmet use, and maneuver the cones along with bike safety. Plan now to attend.

The street project is planned for this summer. Those affected by the construction should be receiving a newsletter with the timeline information. Tree trimming is planned first. The City Hall has changed hours so its closed after noon on Fridays.
