Summer Festival preparations underway
WELCOME — This Sunday is Father’s Day. Happy Father’s Day to all the area fathers, grandfathers and those who are like a father to area children.
The Welcome City Council will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17, at the City Hall. There is always a time for public comments and questions at the beginning of each meeting. To be on the regular agenda, contact the City Hall at (507) 728-8740 before the meeting date. The City would like to remind residents to discharge grass from the mowers onto the lawn and not in the street, since that plugs up the storm sewer. Flush only biodegradable items. Those that say they are flushable are not flushable and plug up the sewer grinder, costing the city considerable expense. Thank you for your cooperation.
The Welcome Legion Auxiliary will meet at 6:30 p.m. on June 16 at the Welcome Legion Hall. All members are encouraged to attend.
The Tuesday Coffee Hours will be 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Tuesday morning in June at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn. Join friends and neighbors for good fellowship around a good cup of coffee and treats.
There will be a CREST-sponsored Lunch-N-Learn program at 11 a.m. on June 18 at the First Lutheran Church in Trimont, and a lunch will follow. These educational and fun programs are free to all senior citizens in Martin County. CREST appreciates a free will donation for the lunch.
Congratulations to area residents Roger and Linda Schultz, who celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 12. Cards may reach them at Box 298, Welcome, Minn. 56181. What a milestone. Our wish is for many more anniversaries.
