Welcome Legion to meet Monday

WELCOME — The Welcome Historical Society Museum will be open from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 7, since it is the first Saturday of the month. Check out the interesting items in the two-story building on Hulseman Street. There is a 1930 kitchen, street scenes, and buildings in photos from 1890 and more, as well as veterans’ uniforms and school items from Welcome School. Contact Vicki Nelsen at (507) 236-7081 for further information or to schedule a visit for a day other than the first Saturday.

The Circle of Faith parishes are reminded that the times for services have changed. St. Peter Lutheran in Ceylon will have 9 a.m. services, and Waverly Lutheran north of Welcome will have 10:30 a.m. services on Sundays in June.

The burning site in Welcome will be open from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 7. Please bring only wood and branches that are six inches in diameter or less. Thank you for your cooperation. The City also reminds citizens that grass clippings should not be discharged into the street because they plug up the storm drains. And, as always, non-biodegradable items should not be flushed, even if they say it’s flushable. Your cooperation will save the city many dollars in repairs.

The Welcome Legion will meet at 7 p.m. on June 9 at the Welcome Legion Hall. All members are encouraged to attend.

Tuesday Coffee Hours continue from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Tuesday in June at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn. Join friends and neighbors for coffee, treats and good fellowship.

Condolences to the families of Christopher “Chris” Nelson, Judi Wickelgren, a former Welcome resident, and Cordell Weber, who passed away recently. They will be missed by family and friends.

The American Red Cross Blood drives will be from 1 to 6 p.m. on June 9 at the Trimont Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 20 at the American Legion in Fairmont, noon to 6 p.m. on June 30 at the Truman Community Building and the St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome. To make an appointment or call for further information about the blood drive times and locations, contact (800) RED-CROSS (800-733-2767), go online to www.redcrossblood.org or text ‘BLOODAPP’ to ‘90999’.

The Welcome City Council will meet at 6 p.m. on June 17 at City Hall.
