Faribault Co. talks land sale

BLUE EARTH– County auditor/treasurer Charles Schrader attended the Tuesday meeting of the Faribault County Board and presented the commissioners with information on how the sale of tax-forfeited land would be handled.

“I just want to be sure you are all aware of the process. The county auditor is responsible for publishing a notice of the intended sale – along with the County Board’s resolution on establishing the sale terms (if not for cash only) once a week for two consecutive weeks in the county’s official newspaper. The final publication must occur no fewer than 10 days before the sale begins,” Schrader explained. “This will be a strictly on-line bidding process.”

Schrader shared there are currently 52 tax-forfeited land parcels which could be put up for sale.

“We will start by offering eight or so the first auction to see how things go,” Schrader commented. “The listing will include the parcel number so people will be able to view the properties on Beacon.”

In other business, the commissioners also:

— Approved the Joint Powers Agreement between Faribault County and the Faribault/Martin County Transit Board for shared services.

— Voted to approve an updated Emergency Management Joint Powers Board Agreement.

— Approved a training request for Amy Salinas of the Faribault County License Bureau to attend the Minnesota Deputy Registrar Association meeting.

— Approved the request of Taylor Doering of the Public Works Department to attend the Minnesota County Engineers Association Summer Conference.

Starting at $2.99/week.
