Sherburn Burn Site open on Sunday

SHERBURN — A groundbreaking ceremony for the new school project will be at 2 p.m. today, May 28, at the football field in Sherburn. The public is welcome to attend.

A Baccalaureate Service for the Martin County West (MCW) Graduating Class will be at 6 p.m. tonight, May 28, at First Lutheran Church in Trimont. Congratulations to all the MCW Seniors. The last day of school for MCW students is on Friday, May 30.

The Coffee Hours will be held from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Tuesday in June at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn. Join friends and neighbors for good coffee, treats and great fellowship.

The first Monday in June is June 2. The Caregiver Support Group meets at 10 a.m. on June 2 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont. Any caregiver or family member of a dementia patient is welcome.

The burn site in Sherburn will be open for Sherburn residents from 8 a.m. to noon on June 1. Only bring wood that is six inches in diameter or smaller. Thank you for your cooperation.

The City asks residents not to discharge grass clippings into the street since they clog the storm drains. Sump pumps should be discharged on the lawn or a storm drain.

Condolences to the families of Eva Schmidt, Ardis Manzey, Lorraine Van Note, Mark Kusler and Don Buhl, who have recently passed away. They will be missed by family and friends.

The Mayo Mobile Clinic van will be available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 2 and June 4, parked near the City Hall. Please call the appointment number (507) 238-8500 and mention Sherburn Clinic for an appointment.

The Sherburn Theatre will feature “Lilo and Stitch” this weekend. Showtimes are 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday. The tickets are $5. A concession stand is available.

The American Red Cross blood drives will be on June 3 and 4 at the Best Western in Fairmont, June 9 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont, June 20 at the Fairmont Legion Hall and June 30 at the St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome. A Crest Lunch and Learn program will be on June 4 at the Sherburn Senior Center.

A Hamburger Night will be on June 4 at the Sherburn Legion. Plan to attend.

The Civic and Commerce Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. on June 3 at the Senior Center near the City Hall at 6:30 p.m. Any financial support for the planting of potted flowers on Main Street can be given to the members or sent to Box 108, Sherburn, Minn. 56171.

The Prairieland Solid Waste Management in Truman is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each Wednesday in June. The Martin County Clean-Up Day will be from 3 to 5:30 p.m. on June 2 and June 7. Electronics and appliances may be brought to the Truman facility or to Weigh Tronix on June 2, or to Truman or Trimont Ball field on June 7, for a $15 fee each.

The First Sundaes in the Park in Trimont will be held at 6 p.m. on June 8. The entertainment will be from the Centennial Band. Ice cream will be available. In case of inclement weather, the alternate location is the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont.

The Friendship Club from St. John’s Lutheran Church will meet for lunch at 11 a.m. on June 9 at Tami’s on the Ave restaurant. Area residents are welcome to join this fun group for lunch.
