Sherburn Theatre to show ‘Lilo and Stitch’

SHERBURN — A CREST Lunch-N-Learn program will be at 11 a.m. today, May 21, at First Lutheran Church in Trimont, followed by a lunch. The program will be about gardening. These educational programs are free to senior citizens in Martin County. CREST appreciates a free will donation for the lunch.

Hamburger Night will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, May 21, at the Sherburn Legion. They will serve a burger, beans and salad for only $10.

Tuesday Coffee Hours from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Tuesday in May at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. Join friends and neighbors for good treats with your coffee and great fellowship.

The American Red Cross blood drives continue on May 19 at St. Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont, May 23 at the Live Fit Gym in Fairmont, June 3 and 4 at the Best Western in Fairmont, June 9 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont, June 20 at the Fairmont Legion Hall and June 30 at the St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome. The Sherburn Theatre will feature the live-action “Lilo and Stitch” movie this weekend with showtimes at 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 4 p.m. on Sundays. They plan to repeat Lilo and Stitch for the next weekend. Tickets are $5. There is a concession stand available.

Sunday services at area churches for the summer are: St. John’s Lutheran in Sherburn will have one service at 8:30 a.m., and their partner church, St. Paul’s Lutheran in Wilbert, will have services at 10 a.m. on Sundays beginning now. St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn has 10 a.m. Sunday services for June. The Regional Worship Center in Sherburn has services at 10 a.m. on Sundays. The Regional Worship Center will have a family barbeque potluck meal at 5 p.m. on May 25.

Memorial Day is May 26. A program will be at the park in Sherburn with a flag added to the avenue of flags for Richard Ammann. The program will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a speaker who is from Sherburn. Paul Groskreutz Jr. will speak. He is a graduate of Martin County West (MCW) and a retired colonel from the Air Force who served 40 years with active and inactive service to the country. The Scouts will serve a picnic lunch at the park for a free will donation. In case of inclement weather, the program will be held at the MCW auditorium in Sherburn. This is a good opportunity to thank those veterans who served and to be reminded that freedom isn’t free.

The last day of school for MCW students is on May 30. The students will be busy until then. The boys and girls track and field teams will meet for sub-sectionals at 3 p.m. tomorrow, May 22, at USC. The second-grade students will visit Trimont School tomorrow, May 22, where they will attend school next year. A teacher’s workshop will be on May 23. There will be no school that day. May 27 the girls’ golf team will have a sectional tournament with Madelia at 9 a.m. on May 27 at the North Links course. A Baccalaureate service for the senior class will be at 6 p.m. on May 28 at the First Lutheran Church in Trimont. A groundbreaking ceremony will be at 2 p.m. on May 28 at the football field in Sherburn for the new school construction project. The boys’ golf team will have their sectional tournament with Madelia at 9 a.m. on May 29 at the North Links Course. The boys’ and girls’ track and field teams will have a sectional meet at 9:30 a.m. on May 31 at Mankato West. Graduation will be at 2 p.m. on June 1 at the MCW gymnasium. Congratulations to the seniors and best wishes for the future.
