GIFT kids raising money for pool

TRUMAN — It’s Scholastic Book Fair time at the Truman Public School Library. The Book Fair is from 3:30 to 6 p.m. today and from 4:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7. You can buy one book and get one book free of equal or lesser value. The book fair is open to the public.

Happy 90th birthday to Marlene Davis. A birthday celebration will be held from 12 to 4 p.m., Saturday, at the Lewisville Legion. No gifts needed. Your presence is a gift.

The Truman City Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. You are welcome to attend these meetings.

Wednesday is recycling day. Please place your recycling containers curbside by 7 a.m.

The Truman Pride meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the Truman School. Pride in our school, pride in our students, pride in our future. Get involved and help Truman Schools succeed. All are welcome.

The GIFT kids at Trinity are raising money to help with swimming pool expenses. They encourage everyone, individuals and businesses, to help them. The deadline has been extended to May 7 due to weather cancellations and spring break, which prohibited them from meeting. Contributions can be dropped off at City Hall or the school office. Everyone is welcome to stop at Trinity with a donation from 2:30 to 5 on May 7.

City of Truman ordinance requires mowing grass and weeds before they reach a height of six inches. Failure to comply will result in the city mowing and assessing the property owner for the cost. Also, discharging mowed grass into the gutter or street is prohibited.

The Strike Out Cancer, “Swing for a Cure,” is on May 13, 2025, at the Truman Baseball Field and Rosburg Softball Diamond. Jaguar baseball and softball have been hosting this annually since 2018. Any item or certificate donations are appreciated. Donations can be dropped off at Truman Schools or Elizabeth Chevrolet during business hours or picked up by a committee member. The Jaguars (Truman/GHEC/ML) v.s. the Blackhawks (Madelia) game will start at approximately 4:30 p.m. Delicious food and activities will be available throughout.
