Cookie walk at Trinity Lutheran this Saturday
TRUMAN — Orders for the whole homemade pies are due today by calling (507) 236-7292. Flavors include apple, blueberry, pecan, cherry, or the new addition peanut butter silk. These pies can be picked up on the day of St. John’s Antrum beef commercial meal on Dec. 8. The suggested price is $10 per pie.
Truman Community Fun Night will be held from 4:30 to 8 p.m. tonight. Starting with a book fair at the library. Girls’ basketball will start with the B squad at 5:45 p.m. with varsity starting at 7 p.m. There will be fundraisers including evergreen porch pots, a bake sale, a 50/50 raffle, hot chocolate and cider, bracelets, key chains, candy apples, face painting, pom poms, a petting zoo, root beer floats, and more. Proceeds from this event support Truman’s youth.
A Cookie Walk will be from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Dec. 7 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Truman. You can choose cookies, caramels, kringle, party mix, etc., and then pay for the items you choose by the pound. Containers will be provided. You can also enjoy goodies along with cider and coffee for a donation. This community event is a favorite for shoppers to stock up on Christmas baking.
St. John’s Antrim church in Truman will be having their ninth annual beef commercial meal from 11:15 am to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8 in the church basement. To-go orders are available. This is a free-will donation event. The Sunday school will be also having a bake sale.
Holiday concerts at the Truman public school are on Dec. 9. Grades K to 4 will perform at 6 p.m. and grades 5 to 12 will perform at 7 p.m. There will be a performance of the musical “Holly Jolly Jalopy.”
Santa’s shopping spree for children will be from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday at the Truman Community Building. Gifts are 50 cents each. Please make your list so your child can be prepared. Several adults will be available to help younger children choose gifts. Kids must have the learning experience by choosing their gifts. The shopping spree is sponsored by the Truman Sorority. The active living group will be meeting at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 10. Any interested Truman resident is welcome to join this group at the Truman Museum.
A Lefse demonstration by Megan Heller will be at 6 p.m. on Dec. 12 in the backroom of the Truman Public Library. Come learn how to make this Norwegian treat.
Remember as you are shopping there is a need for Toys for Truman (local only) and Toys for Tots (marine program). You can drop off your Toys for Truman or monetary donations at Boekett’s or Elizabeth Chevrolet until noon on Dec. 13.

Santa is coming to the Lewisville Legion from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14. Visit with Santa and have your picture taken. Children ages zero to 12 years can register for gifts sponsored by the Lewisville Commercial Club. Santa will draw gifts at 12:30 p.m. A soup and sandwich lunch will be sponsored by the Lewisville Legion Auxiliary and will also be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
