Veterans Day program at school on Monday

SHERBURN — There is a Lunch-n-Learn program at 11 a.m. today, Nov. 6. followed by lunch at the Senior Citizens Center by the City Hall in Sherburn. The speaker will be Tari Stradtman, who will share pictures of her recent trip to Kentucky, including Churchill Downs, the Creation Museum, and the Ark Encounter. These educational programs are free to all seniors in Martin County. They appreciate a free-will donation for the lunch.

Burger Night will be from 6 to 8 p.m., tonight, Nov. 6 at the Sherburn Legion. The menu includes a burger, salad, and baked beans for only $10. Sounds good.

This is the second week that the City is planning to vacuum leaves from the curbs. Please have leaves only on the curb loose, not in a bag. Thank you to the city for this service.

St. John’s LWML and church members will have a Fall Dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10. The menu includes pork or BBQ sandwiches, chips, various salads, and various desserts for a free-will donation. The proceeds will help a Seminary Student. Supplemental funds are provided by Thrivent.

Martin County West High School will dismiss at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8. MCW will have a Veterans’ Day program at 9 a.m. on Nov. 11 at the high school. Winter sports are beginning in November, including gymnastics and basketball. CER programs including Red Bull wrestling, youth basketball, robotics, and other extracurriculars will begin their seasons. The Sherburn Theatre will feature the movie, “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” for the next two weekends, Nov. 8, 9, and 10, and Nov. 11, 15, 16, and 17. The movie is a comedy with a great message. The MCW Fall Play will be from Nov. 22 through 24 at the theatre.

The Circle of Faith Parishes will sponsor a Youth Group meeting from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13 with supper provided for youth in the parishes in Grades 7-12 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. The First Lutheran Church is offering coffee and goodies after the 9 a.m. service on Nov. 10. Trinity in Welcome will have a potluck at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17.

The Civic and Commerce Club in Sherburn is planning its annual Deck the Halls tree decoration contest and vendor show on Dec. 7 and 8 this year at the High School in Sherburn. If any individual or team would like to decorate a tree with a theme for the contest they should sign up by Dec. 3 at Bank Midwest in Sherburn or the Sherburn Nursery by Dec. 3. Watch for further details.

The Red Cross blood drive will be at the Best Western Hotel in Fairmont on Nov. 26 and 27. In upcoming news, there is also a Wine Club event at the Red Carpet in Sherburn from 6 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 21. There is a $20 registration. Sounds like a fun event.
