Remember to turn back clocks

CEYLON — Communion services are at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church at 5:30 p.m., tonight, Nov. 2. Our Savior’s also has a Bible Study at 9:30 a.m. every Tuesday. Area residents are welcome to join both events.

A Halloween Party with Karaoke with Rob and a Costume Contest will be from 7 p.m. to Midnight tonight, Nov. 2, at the Lake Belt Bar and Grill.

Tonight, clocks should be turned back one hour. We go back to standard time on Sunday morning.

The St. Paul’s Church in Welcome will have a Turkey Dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3. The menu includes turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, dressing, corn, cranberries, a bun, and dessert. There will be a free-will donation for the cost.

Sunday begins the November schedule of services for the Circle of Faith Parishes and Sunday services are at 9 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Trimont and 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. St. Peter Ladies Group (WELCA) will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at the church in Ceylon. All members are urged to attend. This will be their ‘Thank Offering’ meeting.

The Red Cross Blood drive will be in Sherburn from 1 to 6 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 4 at the Regional Worship Center just south of I-90. Call the 800-RED-CROSS number, or visit www.redcrossblood.org to make an appointment or check on blood drives in your area.

Condolences to the families of Hilda Tietje and Pat Ehlert, who passed away recently. They will both be missed.

The Friendship Club will meet for a potluck Thanksgiving meal at 11:30 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn. This will be the club’s last session this year. Area residents are welcome to join them. Bring a dish to pass.

Make sure to vote on Tuesday, Nov. 5. The polling place for the City of Ceylon is at the City Hall from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Dunnell voters should go to the Community Hall. Welcome voters will use their City Hall. Sherburn voters will meet at the High School in Sherburn. Jay Township and Manyaska Township voters will also be at the High School in Sherburn. Most other townships meet at their town hall. Check out the list of polling places in area newspapers. Besides State and Federal offices, Ceylon will elect a mayor and two City Council members.

Upcoming events include a Feather Party at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8 at Dunnell’s Community Hall. There will be a Cribbage Tournament at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9 at the Welcome Legion Hall.
