Leaf pick-up this week

SHERBURN — Tonight, the Civic and Commerce Club will sponsor a Political Forum at 7 p.m. at the Sherburn Theatre. Local, County, and State candidates for office will be available.

Halloween trick-or-treaters are welcome from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Temperance Lake Ridge tomorrow, Oct. 31. There will be door prizes, a costume contest, a photo booth and many treats.

Watch for trick-or-treaters tomorrow. They may not be watching for cars or other dangerous things. Have a safe and happy Halloween. Tomorrow is the last day for the Sherburn Community Chest Collection at Bank Midwest in Sherburn. Thank you to all those who contributed to help area charities.

The Sherburn Fire Department will have a Turkey Bingo starting at 6:30 (doors open at 5 p.m.) tonight, with 33 Turkeys, two whole hams, meat raffles, and split the pot. Pizzas and a bar will be available. All proceeds will be used to purchase Fire Truck equipment.

Remember to turn your clocks back one hour Saturday night, Nov. 2.

The Sherburn Theatre will feature the movie, ‘Unthinkable’ this weekend thanks to a group from the community that sponsored the film. The Theatre will show the movie at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 4 p.m. on Sunday.

St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn members are reminded that there will be a voter’s meeting at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3. All members are urged to attend. The Friendship Club from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn will have their last meeting for this year at 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 4 at the church-the ‘Count Your Blessings Thanksgiving Dinner’. Bring a dish to share for the potluck meal. Area residents are welcome.

The city is having a Fall Leaf Pick-Up this week and next week. Have leaves only on the curb so pickers can vacuum them. For questions, call the City Hall at (507) 764-4491.

The Red Cross Blood drives will start from 1 to 6 p.m. on Nov. 4, at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn, just south of I-90. There will be a drive on Nov. 5 at Granada High School. There will be a blood drive on Nov. 8 at Fairmont High School. The Best Western Hotel in Fairmont will have a blood drive on Nov. 26 and 27. Blood is urgently needed, so give it if you are able.

Upcoming events include a Fall Dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 10 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn. The Wine Club from 6 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 21 at the Red Carpet. The C&C Deck the Halls tree decorating contest and vendor fair will be on Dec. 7 and 8. Teams and individuals interested in decorating a tree with a special theme are asked to register at Bank Midwest or Sherburn Nursery by Dec. 3.
