Burn site open on Saturday

WELCOME — There will be a Red Cross Blood Drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., today, Oct. 25, at the American Legion in downtown Fairmont. Condolences to the family of Timothy Schultz who passed away recently. He will be missed.

Congratulations to Faira Mae Loos, who will celebrate her milestone 90th birthday on Sunday, Oct. 27. Cards can be sent to her at 200 South Prairie Street, Sherburn, Minn 56171.

There will be a Trunk and Treat Halloween event for the area children from 12:30 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27 on Dugan Street by the Welcome Legion Hall and in the Legion. Fun games, candy, and prizes have been donated and will be available. Thank you for making Halloween a fun and safe event for area children.

The Welcome Burn Site will be open from 8 a.m. to noon, tomorrow, Oct. 26. No garbage, please. Only wood that is 6 inches in diameter or smaller may be brought to the site.

The Lake Promenaders Square Dance group will meet at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27, at 804 West First Street for a potluck. Dance lessons will follow at 6 p.m. Dancers and watchers are welcome.

The Circle of Faith Parishes meet at Waverly Lutheran Church on Sundays at 9 a.m. and at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. during October.

A Coffee with the Saints event for each parish where parish members bring coffee to the cemetery and share memories of the departed will be scheduled for Oct. 31 and Nov. 1. St. Peter will go to Lake Belt Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Oct. 31 and Trinity Lutheran from Welcome will go to the Trinity Cemetery at 2 p.m. on the Oct. 31. The First Lutheran will meet at their cemetery at 9 a.m. on Nov. 1 and Waverly Lutheran will meet at their cemetery at 11 a.m. on Nov. 1.

The Regional Worship Center in Sherburn will have a Family Fun Fest beginning at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27. It offers fun for the whole family.

The Sherburn Lions Club will have a Fill the Shelves Food Drive from 5-6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 28 at the Sherburn Legion Hall. Non-perishable Food, non-food items, or money can be donated.

The C&C Club from Sherburn will sponsor a Political Forum at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at the Sherburn Theatre. Local, County, and State candidates for office will be available. Be an informed voter on the Nov. 5 election day.

The Sherburn Theatre will not have a movie this weekend but on the Nov. 1 to 3 weekend, they will feature Unthinkable, a mystery thriller.

Watch for excited trick-or-treaters, pedestrians, and children, who may not be watching for you or other moving vehicles. Area residents celebrating the holiday may have costumes that obstruct their sight. Have a safe and fun Halloween.
