Helping Hands group looking for donations
CEYLON — Today there will be a Cribbage Tournament at 1:30 p.m. at Welcome Legion Hall. Area cribbage players are welcome. The Cribbage Tournaments will be held on the second and third Saturdays until spring.
Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Ceylon will have communion services tonight at 5:30 p.m. Area residents are welcome to join them. They will also have a Bible Study at 9:30 a.m. each Tuesday.
This afternoon there will be horse races and a meat raffle at the Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon at 2 p.m.
On Sunday, there will be a benefit pancake brunch and silent auction at the Sherburn High School for the family of Isaac Bakker from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Isaac is the infant son of Brooklyn Bakker who is the second-grade teacher in MCW. He was diagnosed with Congenital Heart Disease. The Lions Club and the Staff at MCW are sponsoring this event to help the family with medical expenses.
On Sunday, the St. Peter Lutheran Church will have a 10:30 a.m. service and during October they are collecting for Heaven’s Table Food Shelf. Waverly Lutheran will have 9 a.m. services for the Circle of Faith Parishes. Sunday St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert will have 9:30 a.m. communion services and a Voter’s Meeting following the service about 10:30 a.m. All members are urged to attend.
The Red Cross Blood Drives will be held from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 21 at Martin Luther High School in Northrop. And from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 25 at the American Legion in Downtown Fairmont. With all the storms lately, there is an urgent need for blood now so give it if you are able, Thank you.
The Coffee Lovers group meets from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Thursday in the back room of the Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon. Area residents are welcome to join them for fellowship.
The Helping Hands of Ceylon non-profit group is still in need of donations to help with the Veterans Memorial at Ceylon Park. The Helping Hands of Ceylon will not be able to have a Halloween event this year due to low membership. Several nearby towns have scheduled a Halloween Trunk and Treat or party. They suggest having lights on if you are ready for Trick or Treaters in Ceylon on Oct. 31.
