FEDA OKs contract with The Retail Coach
FAIRMONT– The Fairmont Economic Development Authority (FEDA) board considered renewing a contract with The Retail Coach, a firm that both Fairmont EDA and Martin County EDA have been working with to help bring in new retail businesses. Both entities have been working with The Retail Coach for about a full year now.
“We’ve had, in my opinion, good results and things on the table that I’d like to finish up in the coming year,” said Economic Development Coordinator, Ned Koppen.
The board approved renewing the contract.
Koppen thanked the board and said there are some significant national retailers in the mix and The Retail Coach has been a big help in pursuing them.
“I think it would be a big deal if we can land those prospects,” Koppen said.
The board also heard an update on My Town Video, which it had approved at a previous meeting. Koppen said while originally a joint project between FEDA and Visit Fairmont, Fairmont Area School District will now be joining in.
“It lessens the financial burden for Visit Fairmont and FEDA and I think that we obviously want to highlight our great school district anyway so it’s a good partnership to have,” Koppen said.
Some development projects, either newly finished or still in the works, were also touched on. These include the new Les Schwab Tire store, the Fairmont Shop Condos and the White Tail Ridge housing project.
