TRUMAN -- Oct. 7 through 12 is National 4-H week. Recent findings from Tufts University's 4-H study of positive youth development indicate that youth in 4-H are three times more likely to contribute to their communities than those not participating in 4-H. Notably, the Tufts research discovered that the structured learning, encouragement, and adult mentoring that 4-H'ers receive play a vital role in helping them actively contribute to their communities. As you may know, the Granada Gardens produce stand in Truman and the farmers market held at Graf Park have closed for the season. 316 power of produce tokens were used at both places this summer. There are still 147 tokens that have not been redeemed. If you still have some in your possession, please keep them to use next summer, or Pat Jones will hold them for you. The program was made possible through a Truman Active Living grant from the Statewide Health Improvement Program, which encourages healthy and active living for our community. Truman Active Living is pleased with the response to the program.
