Council to put out cemetery survey

SHERBURN — The Welcome City Council met on Tuesday evening. There was a discussion with Max Longley, a city employee, about the cemetery and the council agreed that there should be a survey to label all the plots. Some have no names associated with them now and need to be labeled.

The mowing is done on the EDA property and the storage owner has arranged for the mowing on that property. The county will mow the empty lot next to Easy Automation.

The council also set a date to discuss the transition from retired Clerk, Deb Hansen, to newly hired Clerk, Jodi Hemann for the next meeting in October, which will be at 6 p.m. on Oct. 15, after the Police Commission meeting.

Since Hansen was listed as retired, she no longer received access to the bank accounts to transfer money, checking account, and online access were locked. Additionally, she could not reconcile accounts. At an emergency meeting, she was hired as a part-time consultant to help with the transition to the new clerk, so the council approved her name on the accounts and also added Kim Holm to the signatures approved at the bank.

Chief of Police Yochim reported that some, three or four, ordinance violations are awaiting court dates. A discussion of other ordinance violations was held. The report on the newly hired clerk was approved and he reported that the Active Shooter Training was very very good. The council approved sending a letter of thanks to those from the Martin County Sheriff’s office who led the interesting and helpful training.
