Demolition of Welcome School to begin soon

WELCOME — Preparation for demolishing the Welcome School Building will be underway soon, and the City of Welcome has asked that residents refrain from going to the Welcome School site for safety reasons. There will also be a law enforcement training for Active Shooter and residents are requested to stay away from the training sites.

The burn site in Welcome will be open from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 28, for Welcome residents only. Please bring only wood that is 6 inches in diameter or smaller and no garbage or non-wood items. Thank you.

There will be an American Red Cross blood drive from noon to 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, at St. Paul’s Church on Dugan St. in Welcome. There will also be blood drives that same day at Grace Lutheran Church and St. John Vianney Church, both in Fairmont. To make an appointment or check out locations of blood drives, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767), go online to www.redcrossblood.org, or text BLOOD APP to 90999. Blood is urgently needed so donations are very important. Each unit may save up to three lives
