Legion Auxiliary meets Monday

WELCOME — The burn site will be open in Welcome from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sep. 14. Please do not bring garbage or wood larger than 6 inches in diameter.

The Martin County Relay for Life fundraiser for the American Cancer Society will take place from 4-9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Martin County Fairgrounds in Fairmont. The event’s schedule includes a car show from 4-7 p.m., a children’s tractor pull at 5:30 p.m. (registration is due at 5 p.m.), a pork meal from 5-7 p.m. at the arena, a silent auction from 5-8:30 p.m. in the arena, Survivor lap and butterfly release at 7 p.m., a luminaria ceremony at dusk and a Lap of Reflection and closing ceremonies at 9 p.m. Interactive activities include face painting, inflatables and food vendors. The Bee Kays Band will provide live entertainment. Don’t miss out on this fun event for a good cause.

Circle of Faith parishes are in their September schedule of services, which means First Lutheran Church in Trimont will have 9 a.m. Sunday services and Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome will have 10:30 a.m. services during September. Sunday School will also be beginning this weekend. Waverly Lutheran Church would like to thank all those who participated and attended their 125th anniversary celebration on September 8th and made it a wonderful day for all.

Welcome Legion Auxiliary will meet 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, at the Welcome Legion Hall. All members are encouraged to attend.

Condolences to the family of Bill LaFavor who passed away. He will be missed by friends and family.

Tuesday coffee hours are held 8:30-10 a.m. at St. Paul’s Church in Welcome during September. Join friends and neighbors for coffee, goodies and great fellowship. This is the last month for the Tuesday coffee hours until 2025.

CREST is planning a Lunch & Learn program beginning 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at First Lutheran Church in Trimont, followed by a lunch. These programs are free but a free-will donation for the lunch is appreciated.

Welcome City Council has scheduled a meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, at the Welcome City Hall. There is always a time for public comments and questions at the beginning of each meeting. American Red Cross blood drives will be on Sept. 30 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont, Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont and at St. Paul’s Church in Welcome. There will be a celebration of the Highway 4 opening in Sherburn on Wednesday, Sept. 25, with a small parade at 5:45 p.m. (floats must line up by the fire station), along with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by Pocket Park. At the park, there will be a free hot dog meal at 6 p.m. This is sponsored by the Commerce and Civic Club of Sherburn.
