Steak fry Saturday at Legion
SHERBURN — Martin County West School’s schedule is in full swing. On Thursday, Sept. 12, there will be a volleyball game at 7 p.m. at Northrop. On Friday, Sept. 13, there will be a football game vs. TMB at 7 p.m. in Sherburn. On Saturday, Sept. 14, the vVolleyball team will play at Jackson at 9 a.m. Homecoming festivities are scheduled for Sept. 23-27. School pictures for the high school will be on Tuesday, Sept. 17, while Trimont Elementary will have pictures on Thursday, Sept. 19. A school board meeting is planned 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 16. Candy bar sales will be from Sept. 25 through Oct. 14.
There will be an appliance pick up in Sherburn from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, behind the city hall building. There is a charge (cash or check) for this to Green Tech Recyling will be accepted. Check out the Facebook post from City of Sherburn.
Saturday, Sept. 14, is also the date for the Martin County Relay for Life fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. There are many events planned from 4-9 p.m. at the fairgrounds in Fairmont. They will have a car show from 4-7 p.m., a pork meal from 5-7 p.m., a silent auction from 5-8:30 p.m., and a kids tractor pull at 5:30 p.m. The survivor lap and butterfly release is part of the opening ceremony. The Luminara ceremony at dusk and the closing ceremony is scheduled for 9 p.m. There will also be children’s activities such as face painting, inflatables, O’Scoops ice cream and more. The BeeKays Band will provide live entertainment. Come and go as you can.
The Sherburn Legion Steak Fry Night will be held 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at the legion hall in Sherburn. Choose from ribeye, shrimp or smoked pork chop and have a salad bar, baked potato and garlic toast for $20. Sounds really good.
The Sherburn Theatre will feature the movie ‘Beetle Juice Beetle Juice’ this weekend, Sept. 13-15. Show times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday.
The Trimont Farmer’s Market will be open from 2:30-5:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at Anderson Park.
Ruby’s Pantry grocery distribution will be held 5:30-7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, in the parking lot at the Regional Worship Center just south of I-90 in Sherburn. There is no residential or income guidelines, just $25 will get you a full trunk of groceries.
Tuesday coffee hours for September continue from 8:30-10 a.m. Sept. 17, at St.Paul’s Church in Welcome. Join friends and neighbors for coffee, goodies and great fellowship.
American Red Cross blood drives are scheduled on Sept. 30 for three spots, St. John Vianney Catholic Church and Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont and St. Paul’s Church in Welcome. Sherburn City Council has a meeting scheduled at 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, at Sherburn City Hall. There is always a time for public comments and questions at the beginning of each meeting. To be on the regular agenda, please contact the city hall prior to the meeting date at (507) 764-4491.
St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn would like to remind its congregation members that they will move to the fall schedule this Sunday, Sept. 15. Services will be 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. That date will also be Rally Sunday for the Sunday School.

• A Lunch & Learn program will be held 11 a.m. on Sept. 18 at First Lutheran Church in Trimont. These free and educational programs are for anyone in Martin County. CREST does appreciate a free will donation for the lunch.
• September 25 is the date for the opening of Highway 4 in Sherburn. The Commerce and Civic Club has organized a small parade at 5:45 p.m. (golf carts and ATVs can line up at the fire station) and a free hot dog meal following the ribbon cutting ceremony at 6 p.m. by Pocket Park.
