The Welcome burn site will be open from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 24. Please, no garbage. Only wood, 6 inches in diameter or smaller. Thank you for your cooperation.

Trimont Sundaes at the Park will be held 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, at Memorial Park in Trimont. Entertainment will be by the Fett Brothers. Music and ice cream, what a great combination.

Tuesday coffee hours for August continue one more time from 8:30-10 a.m. Aug. 27, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn. September coffee hours will be held at St. Paul’s Church in Welcome on Dugan Street. Join friends and neighbors for good coffee and great fellowship.

There will be a new student orientation event for 7th graders and new students at MCW on Aug. 28, at the high school in Sherburn. Affidavits of candidacy for Welcome City offices were filed by Dan Schmidtke and Kim Holm for Mayor and Elroy Glidden, Eric Anderson and Jon Auringer for the two open city council positions. Election is Nov. 5.

Martin County West (MCW) School Board affidavits of candidacy were filed by Laura Borchardt, Danielle Peters, Jeff Scholl, Darren Thate and Mark Wohlhuter as incumbents and four more candidates, Justin White, Andrew Krusemark, Tom Studer and Bill Unterseher also filed. They will be on the ballot for the election on Nov. 5.
