Trinity Lutheran (Fieldon) celebrating 135 years
TRUMAN — It’s farmers’ market time from 8-11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at Graf Park in Truman. Vendors are welcome to come and sell. There is no charge to be a vendor. The power of produce program will be offered to Truman area youth and senior citizens this summer. Truman Active Living farmer’s market tokens for use at the Truman farmers market and Granada Gardens market in
Truman for ages 4-12 and senior citizens are available at the Truman Public Library.
Trinity Lutheran Church (Fieldon), located at 47334 132nd St. in Lewisville, is celebrating 135 years with a 10:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday, Aug. 25. A catered lunch will follow at 11:30 am. School will soon be in session, so here are safety tips for all pedestrians:
• Cross streets at marked crosswalks or intersections; don’t cross mid-block and obey traffic signals.
• Make eye contact with drivers and ensure they see you and will stop.
• Clearly show your intentions to cross. When you have a system to activate (flashing lights/beacon) use them.
• Watch for turning and passing vehicles.
• Look across all lanes for moving vehicles before proceeding.
• Continue to be alert and watch for vehicles when walking in a crosswalk, drivers aren’t always looking.
• Use sidewalks where provided Where no sidewalks are provided, it is usually safer to walk facing traffic.
Plan to attend the Lewisville Area Volunteer Fire Fighting Burger bash from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 8 at the fire hall in Lewisville. Enjoy burgers, potato salad, chips and cookies for a free will donation. Take-outs are available. Proceeds will be used for purchasing equipment.
Lewisville Legion Auxiliary chicken supper will be back beginning 5-6:30 p.m. on Sept. 22.
