TRUMAN -- Locking bags intended for medications are being offered for free by Martin County Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition through a grant from the US Heath Resources and Services Administration. The intent is to keep medications locked up to prevent accidental ingestion by children or pets and is part of the organizations lock it up campaign. These bags can fit 5 or 10 standard prescription bottles and have either a keyed lock or key and tumbler locks and will be available at the organization's fair booth in the Bank Midwest building. There is a one-per-household limit.

Truman City Council will meet 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, for the Martin County EDA to present a housing study. Their regular council meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m.
Truman School Board meeting will be held 5:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19 in the board conference room.
Wednesday is recycling day. Recycling containers should be curbside by 7 a.m. Be sure all items are clean and the cardboard broken down.
Second Harvest Heartland, nutrition assistance program for seniors, will be held 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug 21. Come to Trinity Lutheran Church in Truman to pick up your box. Eligibility is based on age, 60 years and up, household size and income. Pre-register at 1-800-365-0270.

Through Wednesday, Aug. 21, the Fairmont Area Chamber is selling Minnesota State Fair tickets at discounted prices. They have admission tickets, midway/kid-way ride/game cards and bargain books as well. Stop in from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Thursday or 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday.
