Reminder of burn site hours and allowances

Father’s Day. Happy Father’s Day to all area fathers and those who are like a father to area children, like foster fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers and uncles.

American Red Cross blood drives will be held noon to 6 p.m. Monday, June 17, at Truman Community Hall from noon to 6 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 21 at the Fairmont Legion, 300 Downtown Plaza in Fairmont. Also, St. Paul’s Church in Welcome will have a blood drive on July 15. Blood is urgently needed so give if you are able.

Tuesday coffee hours for June continue from 8:30-10 a.m. June 18, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn.

Welcome City Council meeting will be held 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, at the city hall in Welcome. All members are urged to attend. There is always a time for public comments and questions at the beginning of each meeting without reservations. To be on the regular agenda, please contact city hall prior to the meeting date at (507) 728-8740.

The Welcome Legion Auxiliary will NOT meet this month. They usually meet on the third Monday.

The tree dump burn site is usually open from 8 a.m. to noon the 2nd and 4th Saturday and from 6-8 p.m. on the second Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. Welcome residents are reminded that the site is for branches, brush, lawn clippings and leaves only. No large wood stumps or branches are allowed. Please no garbage or metal items either.

June 22 is the date for the fundraiser concert event of Heart Song from 4-8 p.m. at the Martin County Arena by the Martin County Fairgrounds in Fairmont. There will be live music, hog roast, silent auction and activities for children to raise funds for Healing Hearts Housing. Healing Hearts Housing is offering a real change for recovery from alcohol and drug addiction in a home with recovery support, sober activities, crafts, a full gym, transportation and access to professional services. There is presently a Healing Hearts House for women in Sherburn. Plan to attend.

The Welcome Summer Festival is slated for July 19-21 and part of that weekend are city-wide garage/rummage sales.
