Coffee hours continue in June

CEYLON — Lake Belt Bar and Grill will have a special band ‘507 Country’ from 8-11 p.m. tonight, June 8. They are also planning a high stakes Puzzle Race for June 22. Plan to attend.

This past week on Thursday our nation celebrated the 80th anniversary of D Day and the allied invasion of Normandy. On June 14 it will be Flag Day. We must remember that freedom isn’t free. Thank you to all those who were, and are currently, in the armed forces. God Bless America.

Tuesday coffee hours for June continue from 8:30-10 a.m. June 11 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn. There is also a Coffee Lovers group that meets 8:30-10 a.m. every Thursday in the back room of the Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon. Area men and women are welcome to join these groups for good coffee and great fellowship.

Circle of Faith parishes are reminded that times for their Sunday services during the month of June are 9 a.m. at Waverly Lutheran Church north of Welcome and 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon. St. Paul’s Lutheran in Wilbert is also on the summer schedule and has services at 10 a.m. during the summer (through Labor Day) while their partner congregation at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn will have summer service at 8:30 a.m. followed by coffee hour. Our Savior’s Lutheran in Ceylon will have their 5:30 p.m. service on June 15. Area residents are welcome to join these congregations for worship.

Circle of Faith parishes will have Vacation Bible School for children, age four-years-old to those in sixth grade from July 21-25, at First Lutheran Church in Trimont. Each night they will begin with a supper at 5:15 p.m. followed by activities from 6-8 p.m. For further information or to volunteer to help, contact Nancy Nordstrom at (507) 236-6132. St. John’s Lutheran in Sherburn will have VBS for kids, preschool to kindergarten from June 10-14 and a Day Camp for first graders to sixth graders from July 8-12. Registration is open to all area children for these summer activities. St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon will hold their WELCA ladies group meeting at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, at Jeannine Rasmussen’s home in Estherville, Iowa. All members are urged to attend.

American Red Cross blood drives are scheduled 1-6 p.m. on June 10 at the Regional Worship Center, just south of I-90 in Sherburn. Watch for MnDOT detour signs because of Highway 4 construction. There will be also be blood drives on June 17 in Truman, on June 21 at the Legion Hall, 300 Downtown Plaza in Fairmont and July 15 at St. Paul’s Church in Welcome. Blood is urgently needed now and summer is notoriously slow at blood drives so give if you are able. Thank you.
