Looking for bridge players

TRUMAN — Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Free Park Day is Saturday, June 8. In addition, there will also be no admission fees or permits required.

Dad’s Belgian Waffles will be served from 8-10:30 a.m. on June 15 at the Lewisville American Legion. Enjoy waffles, toppings, sausage, and beverage. All you can eat for $10 per person, while kids, 5 and under, eat for free. Proceeds will benefit the Lewisville Ambulance.

It’s farmer’s market time from 8-11 a.m. on June 15 at Graf Park in Truman. Vendors are welcome to come and sell.

Great Plains ZooMobile will be at the Truman Community Building at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 12. This is a FREE event sponsored by the Martin County Library.

An American Red Cross blood drive will be held noon to 6 p.m. June 17, at the Truman Community Building in Truman. Truman Active Living group will meet 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 11. Any interested Truman area resident is welcome to join this group at the Truman Museum. They welcome anyone to attend who would like to see our community continue to be a great place to call home. If you have any questions, call Pat at (507) 236-4433.

The spruce up committee is looking for people who would like to help us paint. The goal is to get Truman looking its best for the celebration in July. If you don’t like to paint, they also need help with sprucing up some of the landscaping around town. As always, we appreciate donations. Fairmont Area Chamber of Commerce is offering a $1,000 scholarship to Martin County student that is in a business-related field entering their junior or senior year post-secondary year in a four-year college or their final year in a Technical College. The scholarship is awarded after a review of grades to confirm achievement of a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Scholarship applications may be picked up at the Fairmont Area Chamber of Commerce office located at 323 E. Blue Earth Ave. or can be filled out on the Chamber website at www.fairmontchamber.org. Applications must be submitted and received by the chamber office no later than July 12, 2024.
