Active Living group meets Tuesday

TRUMAN — SHIP- Statewide Health Improvement Partnership and Truman Active living are sponsoring a bike safety rodeo for Truman Public School 3rd graders and St. Paul’s 3rd and 4th graders today. Students will be furnished with helmets and bikes for riding the course as well as being taught the ABC’s of biking and learning the rules of the road from Police Chief Mike Schutts.

Truman Active Living group will meet 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 14. Any interested Truman area resident is welcome to join this group at the Truman Museum. They welcome anyone to attend who would like to see our community continue to be a great place to call home. If you have any questions, call Pat at (507) 236-4433.

Home Runs For Hope strike out cancer 2024 will be held Tuesday with game starting at 4:30 p.m. Softball at the Rosburg diamond has the Jaguars vs. Blackhawks with varsity first then junior high to follow. Baseball will be at the Truman baseball field with the Jaguars vs. Rebels, with a junior varsity first, varsity to follow. Lots of food available including pork chops-on-a-stick from the Martin County Pork Producers. Be sure to check out the awesome silent auction items. Also, meat raffles and weather permitting kids games. All cancer survivors are invited to the mound before each varsity game to throw out the pitch together. All teams will have a memory wall displaying who they are playing in honor or memory of. Let’s get a big crowd out to support our teams and help us hit HOME RUNS FOR HOPE. Proceeds donated to relay for life.

Wednesday is recycling day. Containers should be curbside by 7 a.m.

Second Harvest Heartland, nutrition assistance program for seniors, will be held 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 15. Come to Trinity Lutheran Church in Truman to pick up your box. Eligibility is based on age, 60 years and up, household size and income. Pre-register at 1-800-365-0270.

Lewisville Commercial Club will meet 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 15.

Because Truman will be celebrating its 125th anniversary this summer, we are encouraging everyone to help make Truman look as good as possible. The Spruce Up group is busy painting and working to do other things to add color to our community. Donations are welcome to pay for projects and flowers. All contributions can be given to the spruce up account at Profinium. We are grateful for any size donation.

A Memorial Day program will be held beginning 10 a.m. on May 27, in the elementary school auditorium. Since it has been a few years they need to get updated information for their roll call. If you have veteran family member who has passed on, please contact Pat Jones at (507) 236-4433 so your loved one can be included in the roll call.

A salad luncheon will be held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Memorial Day in the cafeteria at Truman Public School. This is a free will donation. Meat will be furnished by the pool and donation of salads would be appreciated. Please let Kirsten know at (507) 236-4436 if you will donate a salad.

• Truman Fire Dept. Relief Association ATV/SXS poker run on May 18. Registration begins at 10 a.m. at the Truman Fire Hall, with the ride getting underway at 11 a.m.

• Lions Club Burger Bash from 5-7 p.m. on May 18. This is a free will fundraiser for the Truman Days Parade.
