Preschool open house Tuesday

WELCOME — The Puzzle Race fundraiser to benefit the Welcome Summer Festival has been

cancelled due to not enough teams signed up. The five teams that did sign up and pay registration will be reimbursed. The Welcome Summer Festival is scheduled for July 19-21 this year.

There will be a fundraiser breakfast for the Relay for Life of Martin County will be held 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, April 21, at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Fairmont.

An American Red Cross blood drive will be held 12:30-5:30 p.m. Monday, April 22, at Martin

Luther High School in Northrop. To make an appointment, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-

Tuesday coffee hours for April continue from 8:30-10 a.m. on April 23, at Sinn Family Life

Celebration of Life facility in Trimont. Join friends and neighbors for coffee, goodies and great fellowship.

Tuesday, April 23, is also the date for the preschool open house from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Sherburn and Trimont elementary schools. Sherburn Elementary will have a kindergarten round-up event from 5-7 p.m. on April 25.

There will be a special election for the referendum of the building project in Sherburn on May 14. There is an open house to give information about the need for the school from 5-7 p.m. on April 29 at Sherburn High School. The MCW Care group will also have information meetings about the referendum, first at 6:30 p.m. on May 2 at the Welcome Legion Hall , and 6:30 p.m. on May 9 in Dunnell. Be an informed voter on May 14.

City of Welcome will have community gardens again this year. Applications can be picked up and returned at Welcome City Hall. For more information, contact Dawn Jagodzinske at (507) 226-3398 or Lynda Stauter at (507) 236-5563). Apply for a spot by April 26.

Watch for information about planting trees to replace the many trees that had to be removed because of Emerald Ash Borer disease in Welcome. Remember the Spring Clean Up Day in Welcome is May 11 and appliances are permitted in the spring. This is a good time to get rid of some of the items that are opposed by ordinances without a fine. This is for Welcome residents only.

April showers bring May flowers and May mud. Farmers are beginning the planting season. Please watch for slow moving vehicles. Farmers please be careful with the equipment. Let’s have a safe planting season.
