Coffee hours begin April 2

WELCOME — Easter plans for area churches are to have a special Easter service at 7 a.m. Sunday with a breakfast to follow at St. Paul’s in Welcome. Also, Circle of Faith parishes plan to meet at Waverly Lutheran north of Welcome for a 7:30 a.m. service followed by a breakfast.

The Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the Welcome Fire Department is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday, March 30, at Keck Park in Welcome. Watch for announcements due to weather. Two boys and two girls bikes with helmets are announced as prizes. Thank you to the firefighters for planning this community event for the children and for your service.

American Red Cross blood drives will be held 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today, March 29 at Live Fit Gym in Fairmont, and 12:30-6:30 p.m. Monday, April 1, at Sinn Family Celebration of Life facility in Trimont. Don’t forget to do a Rapid Pass the day of your donation to help with the registration time. Blood is urgently needed now so give if you are able.

Tuesday coffee hours for the month of April will begin 8:30-10 a.m. each Tuesday beginning April 2, at Sinn Family Celebration of Life facility in Trimont.

Condolences to the family of long-time Welcome resident, James Wohlhuter. He will be missed by friends and family.

Welcome City Works will be flushing hydrants from April 1-5. There may be a short period of darker water.

Welcome City Council is scheduled to meet 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, at Welcome City Hall. There is always time at the beginning of each meeting for public comments and questions.

The cribbage tournaments will have one last tournament day on April 13 at the Welcome Legion Hall. Registration begins 1:15 p.m. with play getting underway at 1:30 p.m. After this tourney, they will resume play in October.

The CREST program is looking for residents that may want to volunteer to sit with someone in need while the caregiver has some time to themselves. The volunteer would provide activity with the person or companionship. The Crest Buddy does not do personal care or medications. No special experience is necessary and the Crest Buddy will be trained to relate with people living with Alzheimers/Dementia, Parkinson and other diseases. The training is scheduled 9-11:30 a.m. on April 15 and April 16 at the CREST office, 820 Winnebago Ave. in Fairmont.
