Easter events this weekend

SHERBURN — There will be a winter farmers market from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, March 28, atSinn Family Celebration of Life facility in Trimont.

American Red Cross blood drives will be held 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, March 29 at Live Fit Gym in Fairmont, and 12:30-6:30 p.m. Monday, April 1, at Sinn Family Celebration of Life facility in Trimont. This week is called Holy Week since Easter is on Sunday. Area churches have scheduled special services. St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn will have Easter services at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday. They will switch to their spring/summer schedule from April to June and have services at 10:30 a.m. on Sundays during that period. Circle of Faith parishes will have a Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon and a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Trimont, then on Easter, they will have a special service at Waverly Lutheran Church north of Welcome at 7:30 a.m. with a breakfast following the service. Circle of Faith parishes will also switch to their April service schedule with 9 a.m. services at St Peter in Ceylon and 10:30 a.m.

services at Waverly. St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn will have Maundy Thursday services at 6 p.m. and Good Friday services at 6 p.m. On Easter Sunday, they will have a 7 a.m. service and a 9:30 a.m. service with breakfast and an egg hunt scheduled between the services. Their dual congregation at St. Paul’s in Wilbert will have an 8 a.m. Easter service and breakfast following the service. All area residents are welcome to join any of these congregations for worship.

Since Sunday is Easter, some area communities have scheduled egg hunts. Welcome will have egg dyeing at 6 p.m. tonight, March 27, then an egg hunt at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 30. Sherburn will have an egg hunt at 9 a.m. Saturday at the city park. Dunnell will have an egg hunt 10 a.m. Saturday at the city park in Dunnell. The Trimont Town Center will have an egg hunt at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The non-profit group, Helping Hands of Ceylon, will have an Easter event from 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the old city hall building across from the post office, with the Easter Bunny present. Watch for weather-related announcements since it snowed and rained.

The Sherburn Theatre will feature the movie ‘Ghost Busters: Frozen Empire’ this weekend, March 29-31. Show times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday. On April 5-7, the theatre will be occupied by the Martin County West Drama Club for their spring play. Plan to attend.

April events also include:

• CREST Caregiver Support Group, for family and caregivers of dementia patients, will meet 10 a.m. Monday, April 1, at Trinity in Trimont.

• Tuesday coffee hours for April will begin 8:30-10 a.m. every Tuesday at Sinn Family Celebration

of Life facility in Trimont.

• The Civic and Commerce Club in Sherburn will meet for their April meeting 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, at the senior center by the city hall building.

• There will be a CREST-sponsored Lunch & Learn program beginning 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 3,

at the Senior Center in Sherburn, followed by a light lunch.

• ‘Hamburger Night’ will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 3,at the Sherburn Legion Hall.

• The Friendship Club from St. John’s Lutheran Church invites area residents to join them for lunch and fellowship at 11 a.m. April 8, at The Still Bar and Grill in Dunnell. They plan to order from the menu. This is not limited to members of St. John’s.

Upcoming events include:

• The huge Martin Luther High School rummage sale will be held April 11-13.

• There will be a three-meat buffet on April 14, at the First Congregational Church in Sherburn.

• The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) Zone Mission Gathering/Rally will be held on the evening of April 16, in Blue Earth.
