Welcome City Council considers development

WELCOME — The Welcome City Council met on Tuesday evening. Eric Anderson reported that the Economic Development Association would like to take over the development of the property near Hansen Keck Park and possibly erect some more four-plex type housing like south on Dugan Street or one level senior housing or sell lots to develop into housing. There is a list of those wishing to have such housing. The council discussed this and a possible neighborhood survey was mentioned. This was also tabled.

City Works employee, Max Longley, reported that seal coating should be done and the council asked him to look into which part of town was next in the rotation of the three parts of town or if this is the year miscellaneous coating is to be done.

The council also approved City employees to do dust control on First Street and Bidwell area this summer. City employees have several trainings in March, May and August which the council approved as long as there is one employee on call in case of emergency calls.

In other news, the council:

— Accepted with gratitude the donation from Shirley Amland-late Larry Bergemann of $500.

— Learned that city works employee, Dave Bach, has passed his Class B license test and approved taking him off probation.

— Approved charging interest for the township for financial issues not paid toward

the new grass rig for the fire department. The township will meet on Feb. 20, and the issue will be brought up at that meeting.

— Approved the estimated bill for a new computer for the city hall and the shop since the present one is very old and needs to be left on all night to make sure it is ready in the

morning. The estimate was $1,832+ from JL Computers.

— Tabled any decision on the tree removal on City property by Weaver Street since

there will be many ash trees removed and the budget was stretched by that tree problem.

The next meeting of the Welcome City Council is scheduled for 6 p.m. Feb. 20, at Welcome

City Hall.

Starting at $2.99/week.
